“A worse thing couldn’t have happened to a better guy,” said Adam Carolla of 31 year-old “Bald” Bryan Bishop’s inoperable brain tumor. “He’s one of the sharpest, brightest, smartest, nicest guys I’ve ever met.”

I have often criticized Steven Soderbergh for wasting his time, talent and energy on crap like the Oceans series. If only he would dedicate his life to things like The Informant!, which looks incisive and hilarious. Matt Damon, on the other hand, will likely never hear an unkind word from me. All he does is make superb and brave choices. Seriously, when was the last bad or dull movie in which Damon starred? Jennifer's Body looks like cynical, wordy, pseudo-clever tripe to me. Diablo Cody -- go away. Megan Fox -- go away.

TV Junkie: Time Lapse of LACC for Emmys; Manny vs. Manny; tonight's Premieres

The Fall Premieres onslaught truly begins tonight with about a dozen premieres. While we desperately want to see FOX's "Fringe" premiere we will have to defer to Thursday night comedy on NBC which is bringing back many old favorites as well as launching "Community" and as we are huge "Soup" fans, we can't miss Joel McHale's primetime lead debut. Then we'll head over to FX for some raunch with "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" and then it's on to late night where Megan Fox's Conan appearance is nicely bookended between Bill Clinton on "The Daily Show" and Megadeath on Fallon. Enjoy!

Chris Hardwick: Nerdism For Fun and Profit

Chris Hardwick is a nerd. He humbly embraces this now, and he’s happier for it. The trick was to align his career with his passions -- even if they’re frowned upon by jocks. The comic/writer/TV personality has a deep affection for science, technology, and his love affair with “Dungeons and Dragons” is in its third decade. While Hardwick isn’t the type of nerd whose busted eyeglasses are fastened with Scotch tape, when meeting with LAist he sported mismatched shoes -- one sneaker, and a blue soft cast.
