Thanks to no offense and a couple of bad defensive plays, the Dodgers were defeated by the last place San Diego Padres 2-0. Padres starter Wade LeBlanc (1-1), who was recalled to the Padres from AAA Portland Beavers on August 29, pitched six shut out innings giving up only two singles and three walks while striking out two on 96 pitches. One of the nastiest guys in the Major Leagues made his grand entrance to the Dodgers clubhouse this afternoon. Mr. 564 homers Jim Thome finally graced us with his presence. Thome went in to manager Joe Torre’s office for a bit and came around to his locker situated in between Andre Ethier’s and Casey Blake’s.

Changes are a brewing at Dodger Stadium. Everyone knows of the trades for starter Jon Garland and new bench warmer and professional hitter extraordinaire Jim Thome. In addition September 1 bring the call ups from the minors: outfielder Jason Repko, catcher AJ Ellis and pitcher Scott Elbert.

Arizona Diamondbacks defeat LA Dodgers 5-3 (10). Yeah the Dodgers lost the game. The newest Dodger as of 9:00 pm Ronnie Belliard made a great impression with the fans by hitting a solo homer in his first at-bat. Manny Ramirez and Matt Kemp hit back-to-back solo shots in the sixth inning. But the DBacks would come back to win it.
