A lot of self-reflection and humility go into an anniversary tour. It takes a lot to look back at your career and say, "This album was our best album." or in other words "Let's just play the songs that people want to hear and forget about our new stuff, which isn't that great." I only wish more bands would do that (I'm looking at you, Brandon Flowers. Just stick to Hot Fuss, babe.)

Tonight In Rock: Jimmy Eat World, Neko Case, Gillian Welch, Eliot Lipp

Tonight Mesa-based indie rockers Jimmy Eat World will be performing their 2001 tour de force Clarity in its entirety to a sold-out crowd at Club Nokia. Cultish San Diegan rock outfit No Knife are set to open the show. As mistakenly noted prior, bluegrass troubadour Gillian Welch will be jamming with her longtime musical partner Dave Rawlings at Largo at the Coronet. And, lastly, Brooklyn-by-way-of-LA electronic mastermind Eliot Lipp is slated to grace the Dakota Live Music Lounge in Santa Monica. But we strongly suggest heading over to Amoeba Records on Sunset to catch ruddy-haired country songstress Neko Case.

Partying with Prince...Sort of

While watching the Oscars at home in my bedroom, I got an email informing me that I was invited to Prince's Post-Oscar party. Me? The guy who was sitting in his room watching the Oscars in a sweaty t-shirt and shorts thanks to some much needed time at the gym was now going to be partying with Prince at his ultra-exclusive post-Oscar party.

One look at the bill for Night Two of KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas one might think with all of the INDIE flavor that that LA's "other" rock station was behind the programming. But alas it was KROQ and Night Two featured great performances by Modest Mouse, Muse, Feist, Silversun Pickups, Jimmy Eat World, Spoon and a surprise unannounced performance from the Killers.

Is locally based web phenomenon and recent newscorp acquisition MySpace really only two years old? Gracious. They grow up so fast. One of the single most popular, unattractive and youthful websites in the world is hosting a two year anniversary concert at freakin' Dodger Stadium this weekend from 5 PM to 11 PM featuring Dashboard Confessional, The All-American Rejects and Jim Adkins of Jimmy Eat World and proceeds going to Hurrican Katrina Relief. Tickets went on sale earlier this month with only a limited number being available online. Well, 1500 more tickets (priced at $10) were made available through Vans.com today but you know those crazy MySpace kids - they are quicker than most to jump on the good stuff before you can get your grubby paws on them so act fast.

Today at 12:00 PM, see legendary science fiction pioneer Ray Bradbury at Vroman's Bookstore in Pasadena, where he will be signing any and all of his books in celebration of Halloween. LAist suggests arriving early.
