Tonight '90s British electropunk outfit the Prodigy will be making their triumphant return to the Hollywood Palladium with SF/LA-based electronic collaboration the Glitch Mob. Portland-based indie rockers the Thermals are poised to headine the Troubadour with the Shaky Hands in tow. Local alternative rock outfit War Tapes will be ringing in their forthcoming debut at Boardner's. And, lastly, Swedish indie pop guru Jens Lekman will be taking on a two-night stint at the Echo. But we strongly suggest heading over to the El Rey Theatre to catch former Red House Painters front man, San Francisco-based singer-songwriter Mark Kozelek as Sun Kil Moon. Swedish troubadour Jens Lekman brought his sweet, shy, Burt Bacharach-meets-the-Avalanches sound to the Henry Fonda Theater on Friday and kicked out almost every jam he's got: "Maple Leaves," "Black Cab," "The Opposite Of Hallelujah," a jittery new song and even an Arthur Russell cover. Only bummer was that the show barely lasted an hour and a half, but at least he'll have some fresh tunes to play next time -- and there will definitely be a next time. more ›

Day Four began with jazz hands. I started off at Cake Shop to see NY native Patrick Cleandenim. He struck my interest with his brand of flamboyant, jazz-infused pop.
