For Denim Day in LA, thousands of men and women all over the city are wearing jeans today as part of a world-wide effort to raise awareness about preventing sexual and domestic violence. Now in its 11th year as an annual observation, the campaign has its roots in a 1992 Italian rape case wherein the judge ruled the victim had consented to sex because she had to have helped her attacker remove her jeans.
