More Than A Fashion Statement: 'Denim Day In LA' Promotes Awareness About Sexual Violence
Denim Day in LA Aims to Raise Awareness About Sexual Violence
Donning blue jeans might be a daily thing for many people, but today keep your eye out for people whose denim is being worn for a purpose. For Denim Day in LA, thousands of men and women all over the city are wearing jeans today as part of a world-wide effort to raise awareness about preventing sexual and domestic violence. Now in its 11th year as an annual observation, the campaign has its roots in a 1992 Italian rape case wherein the judge ruled the victim had consented to sex because she had to have helped her attacker remove her jeans. Among today's participants include the LAUSD students, faculty, and Board members, and thousands more.
