Tonight In Rock: The Sounds, Jay Reatard, The Heavy, Flying Lotus

Tonight Swedish rockers the Sounds will be headlining the Wiltern with none other than local dance-infused rock outfit Moving Units (LAist Review) in tow. Memphis-bred garage punk troubadour Jay Reatard is poised to take on the El Rey Theatre (Canceled!). And, lastly, English indie rock act the Heavy (LAist Interview) will be gracing the Echo. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Airliner in Lincoln Heights to catch Flying Lotus, who will be performing in honor of Low End Theory's 3 year anniversary. more ›

Tonight In Rock: Elvis Costello, The Flaming Lips, Jay Reatard, The Minor Canon

Tonight English singer-songwriter Elvis Costello and the Sugarcanes will be headlining the Greek Theatre with Nashville-based three-time Grammy Award-winning folk songstress Lucinda Williams in tow. Oklahoma-based psych-infused alternative rock outfit the Flaming Lips are poised to unleash their rather euphoric theatrics upon onlookers at the Pomona Fox Theatre. And, lastly, Memphis-bred garage punk troubadour Jay Reatard will be performing in-store at Amoeba Music in Hollywood. But we strongly suggest heading over to Spaceland to catch local indie rock outfit the Minor Canon. LAist favorites, Long Beach-based experimental electronic act Blank Blue are slated to kick things off. more ›

Baltimore-based avant-gardists Animal Collective (LAist Review) are headlining a sold-out show at the Henry Fonda Music Box. (Canceled due to a band member's illness!) Memphis' own prolific punk rocker Jay Reatard will be coming through the Echo. But we strongly suggest figuring out a way into the Troubadour, where Department of Eagles are slated play to a sold-out house. Seattle-based folk maestros the Cave Singers will be kicking off the show. more ›
