Last season in their 12th game of the season, the Kings played perhaps their best-played game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, a 1-0 battle with a Justin Williams goal scored in the sixth minute of the final period. It was a game of hard hits, good puck movement, great goaltending, good defense. That was the point where the Kings potentially doing damage in the playoffs went from rhetoric to an actual probability.

2008 Coachella Music Festival - Day One
Finally, after all the hubub and debate of the quality of this year's Coachella lineup, the festival got underway Friday afternoon. Featuring Jack Johnson at the top of the bill, the day featured outstanding performances from the Raconteurs who proved that they aren't just Jack White's side project but rather a band that is developing their own sound and identity. The Verve, playing for the first time in nearly a decade sounded like they hadn't even missed a step. The day also featured standout performances from indie darlings Vampire Weekend as well as Tegan and Sara among others.

LAst Night's Action: Ducks Kill Blue Jackets (Power Plays)
Ducks 4, Blue Jackets 3, OT - The Ducks managed to kill 7-of-9 power plays and converted three of their own to take down Columbus in overtime. Samuel Pahlsson scored for the OC boys on a penalty shot. Anaheim has won three of their last four and moved into a three-way tie for fourth in the Western Conference, just two points behind second place Dallas, who leads the Pacific Division. Kings 4, Canucks 2 -...
Interview with Shane Alexander
Having just come back from touring in Europe, singer songwriter Shane Alexander, the former frontman of Los Angeles band Damone, will (heads up) play Tuesday night at Troubadour. Although he has been compared to the likes of Jack Johnson, James Blunt and Damien Rice, Alexander holds his own with a unique blend of raw melodies, soft vocals, haunting background harmonies and complex guitar parts.
LAst Night's Action: 24 Only Worth 23
Grizzlies 88, Lakers 86 - When these two teams faced off a few days ago, Kobe had 60 points. This time it didn't go so well. Kobe was held to 23 and the Lakers were held to 34.4 percent from the field. With Kobe out of steam, Memphis ended the Laker's 5 game winning streak and avenging their previous game against Los Angeles. Surprising from a team that still hasn't won two straight games this...

Dearly beloved, we are gathered here together in the sight of Rock and in the face of Roll, to join together you, dear LAist reader, and this New Music Tuesday in holy Matrimony. This mystical union is not to be entered into lightly, or unadvisedly, but reverently, discreetly, advisedly, soberly (ha), and in the fear of the reaper. More cowbell. L'chaim. OUT TODAY: .38 Special - 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: (A&M)...

Now that the weather is more normal we can go back to enjoying the fact that we live in LA and do Southern Californian things like skating, surfing, and editing movies on our Macs.
Coachella - Saturday Preview
Is anybody driving three hours to the desert for this? Two day passes ($167 + $23 in fees) and Saturday tickets ($86 + $15 in fees) are still available. Most of the rock bands have played LA clubs in the past few months. Otherwise you better really like DJs and house music……
Coachella 2005: Day Two
So how would you end a weekend in which you have the number one movie in the country? Well, if you're Mos Def, you cold rock a party like it was Krush Groove. The Mighty Mos Def and Talib Kweli closed the main stage (to a much smaller crowd than Nine Inch Nails which, we think, had to do with Goldenvoice not naming Mos and Talib in the adverts or the program) with an energetic set spanning their combined efforts as Black Star and their more recognizable solo faire. Common, who loves to show up at LA hip hop shows and do his guest spots, showed in the desert as well.
