Tonight British indie rock outfit the XX will be performing to a sold-out crowd at the Henry Fonda Music Box with none other than NY's latest buzz band, electro-infused rock duo Phantogram (LAist Review). Austin-based indie rock mainstays Spoon (LAist Review, #2, #3, #4) are poised to take part in the 2010 KROQ Weenie Roast, which boasts a bevy of heavy hitters, at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre. And, lastly, Boston-bred heavy rock progenitors Isis (LAist Interview) will, unfortunately, be calling it quits after some thirteen consecutive years with their head to the grindstone. Their final West Coast show, which is completely sold-out, takes place tonight at the Troubadour in West Hollyweird. But we strongly suggest doing whatever it takes to get into the Bootleg Theater to catch Silver Lake's own indie rock sensation Local Natives (LAist Interview, Review, #2). LAist favorites, local indie rock act Voxhaul Broadcast and indie folk outfit Marvelous Toy are slated to perform as well.

Tonight In Rock: Emmylou Harris, Pete Yorn, ISIS, Aushua
Tonight Nashville-based country singer-songwriter Emmylou Harris will be performing at the Greek Theatre with Patty Griffin in tow. New Jersey-bred singer-songwriter Pete Yorn will be ringing in his latest disc, performing to a sold-out crowd at the Roxy. And, lastly, Santa Ana-based indie rockers Aushua are poised to grace Spaceland for this week's edition of Club NME. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Henry Fonda Music Box to catch local heavy rock outfit ISIS (LAist Interview).
LAist Interview: Aaron Harris of ISIS
Los Angeles-by-way-of-Boston quintet Isis are the type of band that your mother warned you about. They emit a gargantuan, unwieldy sound that could easily impair your hearing. But after some twelve years of rocking out—or what drummer Aaron Harris simply refers to as "beating the shit out of their instruments"—they've created their own niche. The distinctively heavy tone that many have come to associate with the group has helped develop a new wave of metal bands, including the likes of Cult of Luna, Pelican and Russian Circles. So it should come as no surprise that their fifth, hotly anticipated record entitled Wavering Radiant has found Isis in a fairly comfortable position, doing what they've known best the only way they know how to do it.
