A new exhibit honoring actress Sharon Tate opened this weekend, timed to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the iconic Hollywood blonde's brutal murder by members of Charles Manson's "Family." ICON is described as a mixed media exhibition honoring the life and style of Tate which features the work of Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Corbell. Included in this art and fashion-based showing are items from the actress' "never before revealed wardrobe," many of which were worn by model Lauren Hastings, who was photographed in the outfits.

Gifting events have long been a part of Oscar's history, and this year--more than ever--gift suites are going green and giving back. LAist attended the GBK "Circus of the Senses" event at the SLS Hotel on Friday, Feb. 20, to become familiar with the charities and artists involved with the event. Oscar nominees, presenters and other notable figures were given special wristbands that enabled them to receive goodies throughout the suite. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the event benefited four charities (more info below). In addition, each charity was given a gift bag to auction off, and each celebrity in attendance was given the opportunity to give all or part of their gift bag to the charity of their choice.

City Council President Eric Garcetti introduced the 74 year old broadcast journalist and talk show host after honoring him with accolades of his accomplishments in his field. This year marks the 50th anniversary of his professional journalism career.
On the heels of the recent SoCal beef recall and a property being sold abut the Hollywood Sign, PETA announced an idea yesterday of buying or, at least, renting the next-door land to place 5-letters to the left of the Hollywood sign. If all becomes said and done (they wish), Hollywood's icon would read "Go Veg Hollywood."
