Bottoms up, America! It's National Hot Toddy Day. While the weather in Los Angeles is hardly frightful, it is a bit chilly for we Angelenos who shudder at the thought of a temperature dipping below 70 degrees. Hitting drinkers' lips since the 18th century, hot toddies are a smart beverage to enjoy during the winter months.

The Cure
There is some kind of hellish cold going around that's sent people from all over running to their doctors for a z-pack (to the uninitiated out that that would be pack of Zithromax, the antibiotic du jour these days.) But what if you're trying to stick it out and fight it off with a wing, a prayer and some echinacea?
Seven Grand's Three-fer
This winter, Seven Grand in downtown LA is offering three specialty winter drinks: The Dublin Flip, Hot Toddy and Irish Coffee.
Tam O' Shanter's Hot Toddy
A feeling of familiarity always comes over me when I escape from the cold and the rain into the warmth and comfort of the Tam O'Shanter. Maybe it's because I grew up in Scottish pubs. Maybe it's because my mother's house is decorated exactly like the interior of the Tam O' Shanter, as is my brother's house, as is my own den (I have managed to contain all of the Scottishness in one room of the house by sheer willpower). Oh, sorry, am I babbling? Have I mentioned how strong the drinks are?
