"2011: The Adult Industry in Photos" is a candid look back at the past twelve months at a business that is headquartered in the San Fernando Valley.

XBIZ Awards 2011: Red Carpet, Part 2
Winner reaction was one of elation among many, tempered by humility. "'This is so amazing. I can't believe I won Female Performer of the Year,'" Andy San Dimas told XBIZ. "'I'm just happy to be doing what I do. I just showed up and did my best. I'm kind of speechless to be honest, but this is a great day,'" Male Performer of the Year winner Tommy Gunn confided.
XBIZ Awards 2011: Red Carpet, Part 1
Earlier this month, the local adult business publication XBIZ held its ninth annual XBIZ Awards at the Hollywood Palladium. Hosted by Jesse Jane and comedian Whitney Cummings, the show awarded 106 prizes in five categories (Movies & Production, Web & Tech, Pleasure Products, Retail & Distribution, and Special Recognitions).
LA Street Food Fest w/ The Deadly Syndrome & Warpaint, 7/24/10
The second edition of last weekend's sold-out LA Street Food Fest (see previous LAist coverage) may be but a distant memory, but with many of the thousands of attendees wielding cameras, there is an abundance of content to wade through. Besides the vendors outside and inside the Rose Bowl, there was Unique LA's Marketplace as well as live performances from DJ Bryan Davidson and LAist favorites The Deadly Syndrome and Warpaint.
Dead Weather @ The Hollywood Palladium, 7/21/10
Jack White's latest reincarnation Dead Weather played to a packed house at the Hollywood Palladium on Wednesday night. The adoring crowd clad in black freaked out every time someone with a hat crossed the stage thinking that it might be the mysterious Mr. White. When they finally did emerge the crowd lost it's mind, screaming, and cheering as if the Messiah had arrived. Bassist Jack Lawrence and guitarist Dean Fertita smiled at the crowd sheepishly, but lead singer Alison Mossheart grabbed the mic as if it was her last cigarette and inhaled. Dead Weather is more of a feeling than a band. They have all the right elements for a bad ass rock group: sexy lead singer, mysterious bassist, talented lead guitarist, and eccentric drummer, but no matter how badly they try it just doesn't have any lasting soul. But man alive, they've got the theatrics down.
Midnight Memorial: Adam Goldstein, DJ AM
This was the video played at DJ AM's memorial, held at the Hollywood Palladium. Rest in Peace Adam, March 30, 1973 - August 28, 2009.
Midnight Movie: 'Man In The Box' Hollywood Stage Dive
In this 1992 video from the Hollywood Palladium, Alice in Chains performs their grunge classic "Man In The Box." Frontman Layne Staley shows what can occur when a lead singer is unencumbered by a guitar -- he's free to climb a massive stack of speakers and Superman onto adoring fans. In 2002 Staley lost a long battle with drug addiction. RIP Layne Staley. You're missed. The Layne Staley Fund aims to increase awareness of heroin addiction and its possible recovery.
The Dropkick Murphys @ The Hollywood Palladium 2/20/09
The dress code for a punk show has not changed in about thirty years. It is also a very simple one to follow: when in doubt, wear black. Black pants, black shirt, black shoes, black hair, black eyeliner, and a black tongue ring and you're good to go. With the exception of a Dropkick Murphys show in which case green is the new black. The Hollywood Palladium was lit up in green lights which reflected off the Murphy fans' Celtics jerseys fans with a sort of ominous glow. Almost everyone in the place was wearing Boston regalia, be it Celtics jerseys, Red Sox caps, Patriots jackets, and the occasional Bruins jersey. And why not? This was after all the Dropkick Murphys All Roads Lead to Boston tour.

Morrissey Shows Canceled for Today and Thursday
Bigmouth couldn't sell out 10 nights? There's no official word if Moz had ticket selling issues or if he's exhausted or has anxiety, or if he just wanted to road trip to Zona to check out the Cubs vs the D-Backs. Either way we have this photo and this explanation via the LA Scumbag: There was a line of people all day long waiting to get into the paladium , I just saw them...
Tonight in Rock in LA - Monkeys, Owls, Sally Kellerman
The Barbarellatones, The Black Fuzz, The Scrid Hunters, Zerox @ The Scene
Ratatat Rocks The Palladium
The Ist-community are fans of Ratatat. How could we not be when their album, Classics, is an electro-indie haven. Great guitar riffs, dance beats and sans vocal make it a fun album to share with friends. Our favorite song is Wildcat, and upon first hearing it went around for two days (to the dismay of our roommates) going "Raaarrrr." Followed by tropicana, a slow starting song that would fit perfectly into a movie where a bunch of trouble making teens are walking up a hill to solve a mystery.
Tonight in Rock in LA - Yeahs, Rocket, Band of Horses
We'd like to congratulate Neil for winning The Stills contest. The Stills play tonight at the Henry Fonda with The Land of Talk. If you didn't win, stay tuned, LAist has contests every week for your ass. Here are some other options tonight, a night full of killer live music. Today's Belinda Carlisle's Birthday
Born in LA, Belinda has posed for Playboy, played drums with the Germs, and fronted the first all-girl rock band to have a #1 hit.
Masturbating Judge Convicted
The Oklahoma federal judge who was accused of multitasking with a penis pump while conducting court was found guilty and will be sentenced in a few weeks.
Thomas served more than 20 years on the bench in eastern Oklahoma before his retirement in 2004. The conviction will require Thompson to register as a sex offender, and could jeopardize his $7,489.91-a-month pension from the state.Meanwhile Slate asks the burning question: "Do Penis Pumps Work ?"
Sidekick Attracts the Sidekicks
What could get Paris AND Nicole to attend the same party? Us Weekly cover-girl appreciation day? George Clooney casting for a new film about heroin? Or was it such a huge event that if you didn't show up nobody would notice? T-Mobile Sidekick threw a bash at the Hollywood Palladium that Mischa, Jessica Simpson, the Duff girls, Travis Barker, Christina Milan, Taryn Manning, and Rachel Bilson waltzed into. Ten bucks they all walked out with new 'kicks.
Deviant Tokyo
One of the coolest things (amongst a whole lotta cool) for aspiring artists at DeviantArt's Summit this weekend has got to be TOKYPOP participating in the event. TOKYOPOP, the largest English-language manga publisher in the world, is sending reps to look at portfolios (here's a tip, bring your most recent work, not your old stuff) and editor Lillian Diaz-Przbyl will be part of the "How to Get Published" panel on Saturday.
