The annual Hollywood Christmas Parade, a local tradition for 80 years, takes to the streets Sunday evening. Though you may want to be one of the many in the crowd gathered to take in the spectacle, wave hello to Grand Marshall Larry King, spot the celebs passing by, and listen to some marching bands, you might also want to know what streets you won't have access to starting this evening and into tomorrow for the parade, which gets underway at 6 p.m.
Street Closures for Sunday's Hollywood Christmas Parade
Reminder: Weekend Street Closures for Hollywood Christmas Parade
Just in case your turkey-mashed potato-pumpkin pie haze yesterday kept you from digesting info about this weekend's street closures in Hollywood this weekend, we offer you this little reminder.
Street Closures for Sunday's Hollywood Christmas Parade
Starting tomorrow and lasting through Monday, several streets in Hollywood will have closures and parking restrictions due to Sunday's Hollywood Christmas Parade.
Extra, Extra: How California Could Change Voting
Quick, yet deadly: this weekend's Malibu Fire is 90% contained. We thought NBC had a policy of not giving car chases attention, a respectable position to take. Those days must be over. Anyway, it's always interesting when a car chase gets off freeway at the exit by your house like the one this morning on the 101. That would make number eight on our list for witnessed car chases. More cost effective and more...
Extra, Extra - Christmas will return to Hollywood
Let's start over, shall we? Disney is investing $1.1 billion into California (Mis)adventure, the ghost town of an amusement park next to Disneyland. The Rose Queen for the Pasadena Rose Parade was announced this morning and her name is Dusty. We just love that name for a girl. Staring now, there is no excuse for anyone of any age to ever go "I don't get blogging." The world's oldest blogger celebrated her birthday this...
Death to the Hollywood Christmas Parade
We knew something was wrong. In November we asked "Does the Hollywood Christmas Parade Try to Suck?", and little did we know it wasn't spasticly waving, it was drowning. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce yesterday said they lost $100k on the parade last year and would probably lose $200k this year. Which is a lot for something that sucks as much as it does, so they're ending the parade forever. But just because something...
Does the Hollywood Christmas Parade Try to Suck?
Before everyone gets their panties in a bunch, let's make one thing perfectly clear, LAist LOVES Hollywood. We love the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's bizarre choices for stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. We love the seediness of Hollywood Blvd. Hell we even love the the monstrosity that is the world's most fucked up strip mall known as Hollywood & Highland. We love these things because they represent the half-shitty, half-shiny semi-glamorous paradox...
Hollywood Christmas Parade Street Closures
Sure it's a little cheesy, but what isn't in Hollywood? This year the Hollywood Christmas Parade celebrates it's 75th anniversary so you've gotta give it props. And if you live in Hollywood or plan on driving through it this weekend you should know what streets will be closed so here's the four eleven. Parade map and closures after the proverbial jump. By the way, the parade starts at 5pm today tomorrow and LAist recommends...

The Start of the Christmahanukwanzaa Season
Yes, we know it's not even Thanksgiving yet and it's a little difficult to feel holiday cheer in the sweltering 80-degree weather, but Christmas has already begun in the mind of retailers across Los Angeles. In our family the Christmas season always 'officially' started the day after Thanksgiving, when we would put up the lights on the outside of the house. The Grove, however, has dictated the start of the season as tomorrow, November...
Bah Humbug!
We wish we had read LAFD Online before venturing out yesterday. We could've avoided the road closures and maybe remembered to bring our camera and enjoyed the Hollywood Christmas Parade. Instead, we found ourselves driving through Hollywood a couple hours before parade time confused and in gridlock. The only parade we got to see was the one of bumper to bumper cars on La Brea and Santa Monica as we tried to navigate all the detours and get to the 101.
Much To Doo Dah
If you hate the winter holidays, now would be a good time to head for a cave. Weekends are filling up with Southland holiday rites and rituals.
