It was another rough and tumble night Thursday on the mean streets of Hollywood as performers dressed in costume outside the Kodak Theater became involved in a brawl. The fight involved a man dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow from the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise of films being pepper sprayed by another costumed character dressed as Catwoman.

At Madame Tussaud's on Hollywood Boulevard LAist discovered the set decorators must have a good laugh when they designed Sue Sylvester's office. Check out the speed dial numbers on her phone. The colorful self-organized cast of characters who spend their days interacting with passersby in front of tourist hot spots on Hollywood Boulevard have a U.S. District Judge on their side, according to KTLA.
Two Shootings in Hollywood Leave 5 Injured
Police are investigating two separate shootings that took place in the same area early this morning in Hollywood, according to the LA Times. At around 1:25 a.m., one man was shot twice near the intersection of Hollywood Blvd. and Cahuenga Blvd.. Then shortly before 3 a.m., another shooting left four men injured. In both cases, a suspect was arrested. Police are investigating to see if the two shootings are connected.
Scene and Seen: 7 Feet Tall and Wearing Heels
On Hollywood Boulevard, if you're around seven feet tall, the paparazzi will love you, even if you're not a star. LAist photographer Tom Andrews last week was walking when he spotted the paparazzi, most notably TMZ, going nuts over her outside Katsuya, almost as if it were Lady Gaga. Surreal? Sure. The group of performers who spend their days and nights on Hollywood Boulevard dressed as characters from comic books, movies, and television staged a small protest yesterday in front of City Hall. Among the "superheroes" present were Christopher Dennis (Superman) and Joe McQueen (The Hulk), who were there to bring attention to the arrest citations issued to them by the LAPD, according to CurbedLA.
Hollywood Target, Approved by City, Now Delayed
Target is not just taking heat for its large political donation to an anti-gay candidate, its plan to bring a store to Hollywood and Western has drawn enough fire that it's going back to the drawing board, despite approval by the L.A. City Council in June. Police incidents shut down two important arteries Monday morning, hindering rush hour traffic as investigations occurred. On the 101 freeway, a police pursuit came to the end in Sherman Oaks on the 101 Freeway when a suspect crashed his car near Van Nuys Blvd. In Hollywood, part of its namesake boulevard was closed after shots were reported at the restaurant Musso and Franks.
Trader Joe's Hollywood to Open Friday
The long-awaited Trader Joe's in the Hollywood Entertainment District is almost here. At 8 a.m. on Friday, a grand opening celebration will welcome the company to Hollywood and Vine. The 13,000 square foot store will be open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily and inside will feature Hollywood themed art mixed in with the company's Hawaiian-inspired decor. Since 1958, the Monrovia-based Trader Joe's has opened 330 stores in 25 states. A store in Montrose will also soon open. That one is located, most appropriately, on Honolulu Avenue.

A Traffic Warning for Tonight
One LAist reader hypothesizes that tonight's traffic in the Hollywood could be hell. Her e-mail: "It occurred to me on my way to work that Hollywood Blvd. will be closed westbound between Orange & Highland for the Clash of the Titans premiere until about 11.45pm. Normally no big deal, but since Paul McCartney is playing at the Bowl and it backed up traffic enough last night, the combination of the two will probably result in major traffic issues in that area. Add the possibility of rain and I'm not sure I even want to leave my office till 9pm."
W Hollywood to Open Next Month
The tony W Hollywood Hotel and Residences are set to open late next month, reports Curbed LA. The huge development has changed the face of the famous Hollywood and Vine intersection, from the subway entrance to the feel of the street. There will be 143 residences and 305 hotel rooms. It was supposed to open this Fall.

Two Attacks on Hollywood Streets Indicative of 'Rowdy' Nights
On the heels of a deadly Halloween night attack of a 21-year-old man on Hollywood Boulevard near Cherokee, a club-goer was stabbed about a block away near Hollywood Boulevard and La Palmas at around 2:30 this morning. Information about his identity, assailant(s), and medical status are not currently known. Los Angeles police Sgt. David Torres tells the City News Service (via abc.7) that the events are reminiscent of a "mini-Las Vegas," and this this weekend was "rowdy."
