Tonight LA-based rock supergroup Them Crooked Vultures, which is comprised of Dave Grohl, Josh Homme, John Paul Jones and Alain Johannes, will be headlining Club Nokia before heading out to the desert to headline Coachella. NY-bred indie pop outfit Vampire Weekend (LAist Review, #2, #3, #4) are poised to take on the Pomona Fox Theater with none other than LA-based experimental punk outfit Abe Vigoda. And, lastly, famed English singer-songwriter Holly Golightly & the Brokeoffs will be gracing Spaceland with LA-by-way-of-North Carolina alt-country outfit the Hi-Hos. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Echo to catch New Zealand's own indie pop outfit the Ruby Suns (LAist Review). LAist favorites, South Carolina-bred experimental electro pop maestro Chaz Budnick, who performs under the moniker Toro Y Moi, and Silver Lake-based indie pop act Pepper Rabbit are slated to kick things off.

Tonight In Rock: Sergio Mendes, Dir En Gray, M83, The Melvins
Tonight Grammy Award-winning Brazilian artist Sergio Mendes will be performing at Club Nokia in Downtown. LA-based punk rockers the Melvins are concluding a two-night stint at the Troubadour. Oakland's own abstract hip hop sextet Subtle will be stopping through the Knitting Factory with Zach Hill of Hella. And, lastly, English singer-songwriter Holly Golightly is slated to share the stage at Spaceland with Frank Fairfield. But we recommend heading over to the Henry Fonda Music Box to see French electronic group M83. School of Seven Bells, a relatively newfangled Brooklyn-based group formed by Benjamin Curtis of Secret Machines, will be opening.
Best of 2007: Icebird's Top Ten Albums
If you like songs that are fast, heavy and noisy, then LA trio Icebird may just be up your ear-splitting alley. Comprised of Barry Monahan (guitar and lead vocals), Kate Wise (drums and vocals) and Mike Monahan (bass and vocals), Icebird brings an energy and exuberance to rock that shines with each pounding performance. The band recently released a follow up EP titled "Championship Bloodline."

TV Junkie: 'Idol' Semifinalists Revealed; 'Lost' Goes Back to the Old Island; Armstrong on Colbert
A Word or 48: House was pretty good last night and the timing was great what with the blizzard hitting New England today. With the semifinalists declared on Idol and Paula Abdul declaring that she's never been drunk in her life, I get the feeling that show is really coming along now. Today - Wednesday - February 14th, 2007 Breakfast at Tiffany's (TCM, 4:05 p.m.) Holly Golightly, not the band Beauty and the Geek...
