LAst Night's Action: Big Papi Comes Up Big in Home Run Derby

David Ortiz wins All Star Home Run Derby. All but written off after a horrible April, Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz defeated Florida Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez 11-5 in the final round. Both advanced to final round after hitting 21 home runs each in the first two rounds beating out Milwaukee Brewers’ right fielder Corey Hart with 13 and Detroit Tigers’ first baseman Miguel Cabrera with 12 for a showdown between embattled stars. Ortiz, who batted .143 with one homer in the first month of the season, has rebounded for a season average of .263 with 18 homers and 57 RBI. Ramirez meanwhile was notably benched on May 18 by then-manager Fredi Gonzalez after being accused of not hustling on a play. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Dodgers Defeat Peavy

LAst Night's Action: Dodgers Defeat Peavy

LA Dodgers defeat San Diego Padres 4-1. Manny Ramirez went 0-for-3 with a walk and scored a run in the third inning thanks in large part to an errant pick-off play by Padres ace Jake Peavy. The game started off on the right foot for the Dodgers when Rafael Furcal and Orlando Hudson led off the game with consecutive singles. Matt Kemp would close out the scoring with a towering home run to deep center field in the seventh inning. Kemp also robbed Jody Gerut of a line drive double when he made a diving catch into the sunlight in the sixth inning. Despite having a shaky spring, Jonathan Broxton smoked the ball by the last three Padres hitters striking out two for a perfect ninth. This marks the second time Peavy has lost to the Dodgers, the first since 2003 when Kevin Brown was the winning pitcher for the Dodgers. more ›

Dodger Review

Thankfully the Dodgers won the game 8-3 which is a better result than the last several games I attended. But if you want me to remember anything about the game you’ve got me. Sadly the only memorable thing was seeing that High School Musical actorhomo being... more ›
