Guy Gets Kicked Out of Hollywood Club, Comes Back Shooting at Crowd
Hey, if you're asked to leave a club you might understandably be upset. What not to do, though, is to come back shooting your handgun at the crowd outside, like one man did early this morning at a Hollywood club.
The man was ejected from La Vida just after 1 a.m. Friday.
Man Waves Gun On Skid Row, Gets Shot By LAPD
An armed man waving his gun at bystanders on skid row was shot and injured by LAPD on Sunday evening downtown in the 500 block of San Julian Street. The suspect, reportedly upset over a stolen laptop, grabbed a weapon from a backpack and began pointing it at people on the sidewalk, including at a woman in a wheelchair. The man fled to a nearby apartment where officers found him arguing with another person. The suspect, refusing to obey officers, was shot in his legs and initially refused treatment. Officers found a woman and a cocked semi-automatic handgun inside the room where he was hiding, reports the LA Times.
Police Investigate K-Town Food Truck Armed Robberies
A pair of suspects held up two food trucks parked in Koreatown, and one of the armed robberies was caught on tape, according to LA Now. The robbers, who appeared jumpy and are thought to be unprofessional, carried out one of the December 29th robberies by having one suspect point a handgun at a truck worker through the order window and removing the tip jar, while the second suspect entered the truck from the side and used a handgun to threaten and rob the employee inside.
Half of all Guns Traced in California Come from LA County
When guns are recovered as part of criminal investigations in California, authorities trace the weapons to their point of origin. Statistics released from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives indicate that in 2009, of the 32,964 guns traced in California, half came from Los Angeles County, according to LA Now.

Midnight Movie: Supreme Court's Decision on Guns & How it Effects California

Week Around the -Ists
In Los Angeles, LAist most definitely celebrated Thanksgiving like no other. After all, one has to keep up all the energy to keep on walking the line at the Writers Strike and fighting the unfortunate return of the wildfires in Malibu, which single handedly destroyed over fifty homes within the first 24 hours. National outlets may be covering the fires, but CNN also found it is easier to buy a gun than fruit and veggies in South Central. On the entertainment front, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are suing Showtime over the show titled Californication and Rami Kashou of Project Runway chatted with LAist about his Palestinian heritage and, of course, designing beauty.
CNN: It's Easier to buy a Gun in South Central than Fruit?
Zuma Dogg was nice enough to post this video on Mayor Sam today which lays out a proposal that Jan Perry wants to inflict on the residents of South Central. Even though the councilwoman is ignorant in regards to the neighborhoods in her district, she does know that the people she represents are fat. They're so fat (and in her mind, ignorant) that she seems to want to protect them from themselves. It's her...
Phil Spector: under the gun?
In her closing arguments, defense attorney Linda Kenney Baden showed a video montage of witnesses who said they couldn't put the gun in Phil Spector's hand. The defense is trying to convince the jury that Lana Clarkson, a marginally talented, fairly beautiful actress/model whose career was on the wane, left her crappy job at the House of Blues with the wealthy record producer late one night, got to his house, found a handgun and...
This Week in the World of -Ist
This week ended with the launch of the seventh and final Harry Potter installation. But while the world was consumed with Pottermania, it's important to remember that there were more serious things going on in the world, too - two of them in -Ist cities.
Crime & Communication Go Hand and Hand
If it were not for the LAPD's e-policing program, we would have never known about the below incident near our home. Are you signed up? Maybe you should be. COMMUNITY ALERT NOTIFICATION LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF FILL IN TEXT HERE [hehehehe] It is not very often that we have a armed street robbery in Studio City but on Thursday June 7th we had one. At approximately 3:55am the vict was walking...
AM news: Capitol/capital offenses, school news
Capitol Records doesn't want to move back into its iconic building: instead, it hopes to go condo. Not so fast! LA has been throwing money at the company to get it to stay in Hollywood and the LA Times reports that critics are displeased. Curbed LA doubts city leaders will let the lucrative sale go through. We'll never know if there are enough condo buyers who recognize that the building is meant to evoke a needle on a stack of records. (records?)
Concealed Guns and the Chief of Police
Cal Gun Laws and The Claremont Institute take a look at Chief Bratton's application for a permit to carry a concealed weapon in LA and wonder why he got approved while other private citizens have to jump through much higher hoops in order to get one. It is an interesting question. Cal Gun Laws points out that LA has one of the most stringent policies in the country and state and for much of the last 30 years didn't issue permits at all despite LA's wild west tendencies towards illegal gun violence.
Immobile Mugger Collared
NBC4 TV.com reports that a paralyzed man in a wheelchair accused of robbing a woman and attempting to mug a teenager pleaded not guilty to charges that could send him to prison for 117 years.
Discomfort Inn
On August 17, 2004 officers were summoned to a Comfort Inn on W. Sunset Blvd. A hotel manager tracked down the suspect at the second hotel after discovering that he'd stolen a painting when he was asked to leave the first hotel. The irate hotel manager recognized the thief's vehicle in the Comfort Inn parking lot and called the cops.
