It appears he had been used for dogfighting bait as indicated by the scratches on his face and body. Unlike most of the unfortunate dognapped, Hambone was dumped - probably because of his gentle nature - and not killed. (I was lucky enough to adopt a pit bull found on the street for this very reason.) Don't despair - this story has an against-all-odds, oddly serendipitous ending that is just the beginning for more than a few, starting outside a Hollywood 7-11, stopping in Studio City, and culminating Saturday at Lake Hollywood.

Amazing, right? The little dog that became our Hambone was found - safe and sound.

Don't get too excited, Hambone, the local stolen Hollywood dog made local celebrity via the internet, is not home...yet. But Hambone of Hollywood's reward is now up to ten thousand dollars - yes, you read that right - boosted by a $5K donation from Chris DeRose and Last Chance for Animals. Hambone's Dad just sent me the latest video update.
