The little-barroom-band-that-could, did, this week in Los Angeles. On the eve of the release of their fifth album in six years, Brooklyn-based The Hold Steady occupied L.A. Live's rin gong of acoustic perfection, taking to the confines of the Grammy Museum's intimate, 200-person theater for a moderated interview, audience Q&A, and rare acoustic show including songs from the new record, "Heaven is Whenever" (Rough Trade/Vagrant). more ›

Kidrockers w/ The Henry Clay People & Silversun Pickups @ The Echo 11/8/09

             + 17 more

Last month, the family-friendly Kidrockers presented a show at The Echo, hosted by comedians Matt Dwyer and Greg Behrendt, with music by The Henry Clay People and the newly Grammy-nominated Silversun Pickups. "Two hometown favorites returning from their respective fall tours, performed together... filling the room with a wall-to-wall mass of kids and their rock-savvy parents, with the Henry Clays modifying their rock 'n roll classicism for the under 18-crowd (lyrical references to beer were quickly and humorously ad-libbed to Hi-C) and the Pickups playing a full-band acoustic set," reported Travis Woods from Web In Front. more ›

WTF of the Day: Stevie Wonder and the Jonas Brothers

WTF of the Day: Stevie Wonder and the Jonas Brothers

How did this messy mashup happen? Who paired the Jonas Brothers and Stevie Wonder at tonight's Grammy Awards? We've never seen the Jonas Brothers perform before, but boy did they blow. Nevermind that one of them flubbed his line, but didn't it seem a little smug of them to yell, "C'mon, Stevie!" Like he needs any encouragement to perform? Next time, brothers, it's Mr. Wonder to you. more ›

Radiohead, McCartney to Play Grammys

Radiohead, McCartney to Play Grammys

The 51st Annual Grammy Awards will take place in a couple of weeks here in LA at the Staples Center, and the Recording Academy has announced another batch of artists slated to perform live as part of the show, the Daily News reports. Of course, to see all these performances live you'll have to be part of the select few with a ticket to the Feb. 8 show; as is the norm with awards show telecasts, we'll have to wait for CBS to air it 3 hours later at 8 p.m. more ›

The new GRAMMY Museum, set to open on Saturday in downtown's $ 2.5 billion LA Live complex, is not necessarily about history, even though you'll find those elements. Rather, it looks at the now and the creative process of music. Think along the lines of engagement and interactivity. more ›
