Tonight Parisian buzz band Phoenix are poised to grace the Greek Theatre with Canadian indie rock outfit Metric (LAist Interview, Review) and local garage rockers the Soft Pack in tow. Israeli shock rock troupe Monotonix (LAist Review) are poised to take on the Smell in Downtown. And, lastly, San Diego-bred DJ the Gaslamp Killer will be on the decks at the Roxy. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Troubadour to catch Brooklyn-based indie pop outfit Chairlift (LAist Review). LAist's favorite, predominantly electronic one-woman-band Glasser is slated to kick things off.

Tonight St. Albans-based dance pop outfit Friendly Fires (LAist Review) will be performing for a sold-out crowd at the Troubadour with Hockey in tow. LAist favorites the Henry Clay People (LAist Review, #2, #3, #4) are poised to take on Spaceland with the Broken West (LAist Review). Local afro-centric pop rockers Fool's Gold will be gracing the Echo as a party of a stellar bill that includes Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, as well as Glasser. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Center for the Arts in Eagle Rock to catch Oregonian singer-songwriter Richard Swift. San Franciscan folk rockers Vetiver are slated to headline.

It's Monday night in LA and that means the free residencies are aplenty. You've got local singer-songwriter Rocco Deluca (LAist Interview, Review) performing at Spaceland for the penultimate time. Last week's show found famed Québécois producer/musician Daniel Lanois joining Deluca onstage. LA's other prominent and prepossessing singer-songwriter Robert Francis (LAist Interview, Review) will be playing at the Echo for the third night this month as well. And, to complete the triumvirate, local alt-country outfit Olin & the Moon (LAist Interview) are poised to rock the Silver Lake Lounge. But we insist that you head all the way over to UCLA's Kerckhoff Grand Saloon to catch Brooklyn experimental buzz band High Places. LAist favorite Glasser will be kicking off the show.

Tonight we find Los Angeles amidst a flurry of relatively pedestrian shows, including local indie rock heavyweights the Cold War Kids (LAist Review), who just concluded their stop by KCRW a few short minutes ago, New York City-based electro-pop masterminds Brazilian Girls (LAist Interview) and Swedish rock band the Hives. If you're as bummed as we are about Glasser's cancellation of their gig at the poorly-lit dive 3 of Clubs, then get your dose of underground greatness elsewhere. Aaron Embry of AmniOn's "solo" performances have steadily garnered him wide acclaim. Acknowledged as a musical genius by many, Embry actually played keys for Elliott Smith before Smith's untimely death. He'll be playing the Tangier Restaurant in Los Feliz. But the lineup at Spaceland tonight intrigues us most. Specifically, Obi Best. Or rather Alex Lilly, who can generally be found singing back-ups for the Bird and the Bee. Lilly has penned a whimsical new record that rivals, if not exceeds, the Bird and the Bee's sing-song brand of saccharine pop.
