Situated at Colorado Street, Pasadena, the 144-foot high Colorado Street Bridge is an impressive crossing in Southern California which rests on the original Route 66, its graceful structure a framework of exotic curves and seemingly artistic supports. Despite its image of romance and beauty, this bridge is known for a number of suicides which have occurred since 1913 when the bridge was completed.
There is something distinctly eerie about a lighthouse. Jutting out from the shoreline, alone and battered by the cold air and frothing waves of the sea, puncturing the horizon and so strangely remote, haunting the night like a tall wraith. Point Vicente Lighthouse is situated near the intersection of Palos Verdes Drive and Los Verdes Boulevard in the Rancho Palos Verdes section of Los Angeles. It has its own ghost.
It happened during the 1950s in Los Angeles. Mr Hall was waiting for a traffic light when the girl came into view by the side of the road. She was pretty, and she was hitch-hiking, her thumb raised to the heavens and her elegant complexion faced towards the stationary vehicle. However, on this occasion Mr Hall didn't have time, and as the light flicked to green he zoomed off with haste, not giving the hitch-hiker a second glance.
April 1970, 9:00 am. A teenager, walking down Beverly Boulevard with his brother and sister stumbled upon the old building. It must've been three-stories high. Despite heavy traffic on the streets, near the eerie looking structure there was no-one about. There was certainly nobody residing within the walls, the forlorn face of the building had blackened windows, and there were no signs to indicate it had been in use recently.
