Indiana Pacers defeat LA Lakers 118-117. The Lakers outscored the Pacers in the first three quarters. They led by 16 points a minute into the fourth quarter. Then the Pacers went on a scoring run that was capped off by a Troy Murphy put-back off of a miss right before the buzzer went off in the fourth that gave the Pacers the one-point victory. Despite being 7-10 the Pacers also handed the Celtics a 16-point defeat in their second game of the season. The Lakers meanwhile suffer only their second loss of the season and face Philadelphia tonight.

Hello Ducks fans, I'm back to regale you all with my take on the greatest game on earth. When I signed off last time (seemingly for good) the Anaheim Ducks of Los Angeles Anaheim were the glorious winners of Lord Stanley's silver chalice.

I'm so intelligent when it comes to hockey there should be a bylaw barring me from showing off like this. All of the pre-game talk yesterday was how Ottawa had all the momentum, how the Ducks defense was deflated due to Pronger's abscence, and how the hometown crowd was going to run amok with Alanis induced fever.

Bettman and the NHL owners should be ashamed that they let this happen. After finally getting the players to agree to a salary cap, how could they not let it go up to $49 million? How could they cancel a whole season on being $6.5 million apart? The idea of a salary cap is 100 times more important than the actual cap number. Getting the union to agree to a cap is one of the greatest accomplishments in NHL labor history. But the owners blew a chance to save their season and their sport.

The NHL's problem is that it's pretended hockey is a major sport for over a decade, and the reality is that with pathetic TV ratings, falling attendance, and an overambitious expansion, hockey barely registers a tick on the sports radar screen these days.
