Gu Jip is a hidden gem of sorts. It's not tucked away in a dark alley somewhere, but I sure had enough trouble finding it -- there's no English signage at all except a blue lit sign that says "Tofu House." Not. Helpful. Good thing the suite number is also on top of the door and that matched up with the Gardena address we had in hand.

On Halloween, New York-based shoegazers Asobi Seksu (MySpace), whose previous Southern California appearance was two years ago at The Echo (MySpace), returned there to complete the final stop on their current domestic tour, performing songs from their existing repertoire and the new album that is tentatively scheduled to street in February. A Gardena City Councilman introduced a motion to making wearing baggy pants illegal, allowing police to hand out citations for such a violation. "Councilman Steve Bradford introduced the measure, arguing wearing pants that hang below the waist, exposing skin or underwear, amounts to indecent exposure," the Daily Breeze reported but Bradford told KCAL9 he introduced this as a way to start the conversation among residents. Last night, the council was to possibly vote on the motion, but tabled it to a future meeting. "This is the stupidest, most ridiculous, asinine ordinance this city has ever considered," one resident exclaimed at last night's meeting.

Post-holiday shopping took a gruesome turn in the parking lot of the Target store in Gardena last month when three women robbed another woman of her earrings and slashed her face.
