Rep. Maxine Waters Will Face Ethics Violation Charges
US Rep. Maxine Waters (D-35th District) will likely face an accusation "of at least one ethics violation in her efforts to help a bank with ties to her husband," according to LA Now. Waters was made aware of the allegations on Friday, and has told an anonymous source that she "plans to fight the charges in a House trial." The charges against Waters, who serves a swath of Los Angeles that includes Inglewood, Hawthorne, Lawndale, and Gardena, will be made public on Monday by the Office of Congressional Ethics, which has passed their independent findings to the House Ethics Committee, which, in turn, "turned the matter over to a panel of [...] lawmakers who have been conducting their own probe for months."

Fatal Bus Accident Shears Hydrant, Downs Power Lines in Harbor Gateway
A Gardena municipal bus struck "a fire hydrant, a few cars and power lines in Harbor Gateway" at around 5:45 this morning, according to abc7. The driver was killed. Crews are working to turn off the water that shot into the air when the hydrant was sheared, and the DWP is working to restore the power lost to about 3,300 area customers who were thrown in the dark when the accident downed power lines. "TV reports say the driver may have suffered a heart attack and lost control of the bus, although [LAPD spokeswoman Norma] Eisenman says she cannot confirm that," notes CBS2.
South Bay Korean: Gu Jip
Gu Jip is a hidden gem of sorts. It's not tucked away in a dark alley somewhere, but I sure had enough trouble finding it -- there's no English signage at all except a blue lit sign that says "Tofu House." Not. Helpful. Good thing the suite number is also on top of the door and that matched up with the Gardena address we had in hand.

The show was a homecoming for frontwoman Yuki Chikudate, as she grew up in Gardena and her relatives were in the audience.
Fashion Police Cannot Ticket for Baggy Pants Yet
A Gardena City Councilman introduced a motion to making wearing baggy pants illegal, allowing police to hand out citations for such a violation. "Councilman Steve Bradford introduced the measure, arguing wearing pants that hang below the waist, exposing skin or underwear, amounts to indecent exposure," the Daily Breeze reported but Bradford told KCAL9 he introduced this as a way to start the conversation among residents. Last night, the council was to possibly vote on the motion, but tabled it to a future meeting. "This is the stupidest, most ridiculous, asinine ordinance this city has ever considered," one resident exclaimed at last night's meeting.
Cars & Crimes Times Three
Three different news stories are making the rounds today, all of which involve cars and crimes, and all of which are best defined as "things that make you go hmm?" (Are we still allowed to say that?)
