Wabbits Inspired By Watership Down At Gallery 1988

At Gallery 1988 on Melrose the gallery walls are filled with rabbits -- many, many rabbits. The details in the paintings, sculpture, and assemblage should definitely be viewed in person. Last night at the opening reception, LAist met this supremely talented couple as they greeted friends and fans. more ›

TOYS on Parade at Gallery 1988

TOYS on Parade at Gallery 1988

“Toys,” an exhibit of artwork inspired by classic toy brands, opened at Gallery 1988 on Melrose earlier this week. The collection pays tribute to the 40th anniversary of Hot Wheels cars – and LAist was there for the opening. We loved the artists’ representations of playthings we haven't thought about in more than 20 years. Think: a VW van made into a roller skate, Speed Racer on acrylic and even Gumby (who looks like he's tripping on acid). more ›
