Tonight Scottish rock act Frightened Rabbit will be headlining the Henry Fonda Music Box with none other than Chicagoan indie rock outfit Maps & Atlases. San Franciscan chamber-punk outfit Bonfire Madigan are poised to take on the Bootleg Theater. And, lastly, Geneva Garvin, an experimental electro songstress who performs under the pseudonym Geneva Jacuzzi, will be gracing the Echo for this week's edition of Part Time Punks. But we strongly suggest heading over to Myra Avenue at Santa Monica Boulevard and North Hoover Avenue where the first ever Silver Lake Jubilee, a two-day community festival which features a bevy of twenty-some-odd local bands each day, will be coming to a close. LAist favorites, local indie rock outfit Foreign Born (LAist Interview, Review) and all-female, retro 60s pop rock quartet The Like (LAist Review, #2, #3) are slated to headline.
Tonight In Rock: Foreign Born, Frightened Rabbit, Geneva Jacuzzi, Bonfire Madigan
Tonight In Rock: Brian Eno, Mount Eerie, Frightened Rabbit, The Happy Hollows
Tonight legendary English musician/producer Brian Eno will be giving a lecture at Cal State Long Beach's Carpenter Performing Arts Center. LA-based indie rockers the Happy Hollows (LAist Review, #2, #3) are poised to grace the Lobster Fest in San Pedro with none other than Joshua Tree-based indie rockers Gram Rabbit (LAist Review). And, lastly, Scottish rock act Frightened Rabbit will be performing with fellow Scots the Twilight Sad and We Were Promised Jetpacks. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock to catch Washington-bred lo-fi folk maestro Mount Eerie.
Tonight In Rock: Lykke Li, The Last Shadow Puppets, Spinto Band, The Western States Motel
It's the first Monday of the month and thus we've got a bevy of new Monday Night Residencies. Local indie rockers the Western States Motel will be kicking things off at Spaceland. And WEAVE! will be embarking on their month-long residency at the Echo. Fresh off the heels of a record release party, LA-based the Monolators will grace the hole-and-corner Pehrspace. Delaware-based pop rock maestros the Spinto Band will be performing at the Echoplex with Scottish indie rockers Frightened Rabbit and one of our favorite local bands, Miniature Tigers (LAist Review). Lastly, Vancouver's own Mother Mother will be showcasing their disjointed yet entirely appealing tunes at the Silver Lake Lounge. But the lineup at the El Rey Theatre tonight is downright irresistible. Swedish songstress Lykke Li (LAist Review, #2) will be accompanied by not only SoCal mainstays the Mae Shi (LAist Interview, Review, #2) and Grand Ole Party (LAist Review, #2, #3), but also St. Albans own electro-pop act Friendly Fires (LAist Review).
