A man driving over the speed limit went airborne in Fresno this morning, and landed his car on the roof of a house. The suspect, 26-year-old Benjamin Tucker, was speeding through the neighborhood on Wednesday when officials say he hit a tree stump and was launched into the air, coming to a perfectly aligned stop atop the building.

Elida Betancourt has an awfully big bone to pick with the Fresno Bee. The paper sent the Fresno County woman on an emotional ride on Wednesday morning after it reprinted the previous Friday's winning lottery numbers in lieu of the Tuesday drawing. Her morning went from "OMG!!! You just won $54 million!!!" to "Wait, no you didn't. Oops. You win nothing. Carry on."
It's Now Somewhat Easier Being Green: LA Adds More Recyclable Items
In our unending effort to be the city onto whom the least blame will fall when the planet implodes with waste, LA officials launched an initiative today that will allow residents to throw empty juice, milk, soup and wine cartons into blue recycling bins. Until today, those wishing to go green could recycle a number of other household products, including plastic, paper, batteries and aluminum beverage containers, among others.
At Least 6 Killed in Crash Involving Greyhound Bus From L.A.
At least six people have died in a crash involving a Greyhound Bus and and a Chevy Blazer on Highway 99 outside of Fresno, according to the LA Times. The bus, which originated in Los Angeles and was operating on the carrier's Route 6888, was carrying 47 people, and was driven by James Jewett, 57. Jewett was among those killed in the accident.
Fresh & Easy Announces 9 More California Locations
Fresh & Eash, the grocery store that wants to eventually be a dominating force with a location in every neighborhood, has announced a slew of news spots, including its 100th in California. Nine of them will open in September with four of them located in the Los Angeles region.
Beef Recalled from Fresno Company after Salmonella Link
Got beef? Check that package for establishment number "EST. 31913." 825,769 pounds of ground beef distributed in California and other Southwestern states were recalled today by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service after it was thought it may be linked to a salmonella outbreak. The meat was produced between June 5, 2009 through June 23 and was packaged under a variety of names, according to the Associated Press. More specific details can be found on USDA's press release.

About 3,000 people descended upon on Fresno Saturday for the Meet in the Middle 4 Equality to protest Proposition 8, which banned gay marriage in California and was upheld by the state Supreme Court last week. First, a group marched 14.5-miles from Selma to Fresno's city hall followed by a rally with speakers including Charlize Theron, T.R. Knight, Eric McCormack, Cleve Jones, Rick Jacobs, Robin McGehee and Robin Tyler.

Hundreds of people marched over 14 miles from Selma to Fresno this morning kicking off the Meet in the Middle 4 Equality rally in downtown Fresno. Police were expecting 3,000 to 5,000 people to descend upon the city's city hall, but the number of people who have shown up is currently unknown. Notable names attending to speak include Charlize Theron, Eric McCormick from Will and Grace and T.R. Knight from Grey's Anatomy.

Largest Medical Response to Rose Bowl at Football Game
More than 800 people got sick (13 went to the hospital) after watching the Fresno Bulldogs beat the UCLA Bruins on Saturday at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. What happened? No, it wasn't UCLA's poor performance. For the most part, it was heat-related. "Paramedics from Los Angeles and Glendale were called in to assist in the response," which the the LA Times reported to be the largest medical response to the Rose Bowl.

Today, they released America's Most Walkable Neighborhoods and Los Angeles came out at #9. #9?!?! Well, it's not for the city as a whole, but rather for certain neighborhoods, specifically Mid City West, Downtown, Hollywood.
