Thanks to New Year's hangovers, clubland in January can be sluggish. However, brave weekend warriors can still be found under the disco ball. They know the only way to fight 2008 hangovers is to dance them off in 2009. Nightlife photographer Drew “Rukes” Ressler (we interviewed him last month) was there to catch this nocturnal revelry.

Is the word Hipster even allowed to be used anymore without disdain dripping from the user's tongue? Is it outdated? What about the connotation - good, bad, both? The Anti-Hipster's Guide to LA is a listing of people, bars/clubs, musicians/DJs, artists, installation, etc etc that may be deemed hipster-centric but don't really carry the negative connotation of the word (meaning pretentious, inaccessible, you get my drift)

Love it or hate it, tonight's New Year's Eve. And while half of the city has vacated for NYE's in Vegas, there's plenty to do right here in LA to welcome '08.

So the Japanese have mastered a lot of things that maybe our feeble minds can't handle here in the good ol' USA. One of which is shirt-folding. I have tried this video at home in the morning and at night, sober and wasted (I thought it would be a cool party trick) but alas, it's not my bag. Of course this never stopped me from buying more shirts or supporting new labels launching here...
