Jackie Tohn may have started the show with a song about wanting a life of confined success on the tune "Big Fish" but she's not fooling anyone. It is tropical-waters clear that the Silver Lake resident has thoroughly outgrown the small pond.

A Paranormal Payout For Those 12 And Up: The X Factor
222 million eyeballs (2 per face) watched Simon Cowell's shattered body Terminator itself back together last night in a musically dramatic 'The X Factor' ad that aired during Super Bowl XLV, the most-watched television program ever. Cowell's panel of cohorts for the upcoming U.S./FOX version of his British hit singing competition have yet to be revealed (or decided), reports the AP, however Deadline reveals new details like the $5 million winning record deal and 12+ age eligibility for the show's American debut. First season auditions begin March 27 in Los Angeles. The Pepsi-sponsored series and estimated $35 million promo campaign is set to launch in the fall.
Super Bowl XLV Wins Most-Watched Program In TV History
More than 111 million people donated their eyeballs to Super Bowl XLV on Sunday night making it the most-watched program in TV history, says the Hollywood Reporter. What would be interesting would be to cross reference that number with the Ruffles people and see how many bags of chips that translates to. THERE'S a statistic. According to Nielsen Media Research FOX became the first network ever to exceed 100 million viewers for a night in prime time, and it's the fourth consecutive Super Bowl to set a viewership record.

TV Junkie: ABC Picks Up 2 Drops 1; Elijah Wood to Star in FX Comedy
Elijah Wood will star in his first TV series as part of FX's "Wilfred" - an adaptation of an Australian series. From the press release: Wood stars as "Ryan" an introvert who struggles to find social and professional happiness, until he meets "Wilfred" (played by Jason Gann), who is described as part Australian Shepherd, part Russell Crowe on a bender. The world sees Wilfred as a dog; Ryan sees Wilfred as a man dressed in a dog suit." The series will air on FX sometime in the next 18 months. We have to admire FX just "going for it" by buying 13 episodes of this show without doing tons of market research, screenings, or tweaking of the show. Generally we see this faith in artistry on the premium networks like HBO.

TV Junkie: FCC Indecency Rules 'Vague & Chilling'
Yesterday it was announced that U.S. 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals in New York labelled the Federal Communications Commission's indecency rules "unconstitutionally vague and chilling." Between the arbitrary identification of obscenity and the random assessment of fines, from a couple thousand dollars to hundreds of thousands, broadcasters of live events have been on tenterhooks until this ruling. Smaller broadcasters, in particular, were in danger of being shut down if even a violation was filed against them as either paying the fine, or funding a lawyer to fight the fine.
TV Junkie: 'Glee' & 'Justified' Season Finales; TV Prop Auction; Comedy Roundtable
The TV Junkie Plan: "Lakers vs. Celtics", "The Lazy Environmentalist", "Glee", "Justified", "Chelsea Lately", Letterman, Ferguson (John Waters, Taraji P. Henson)
TV Junkie: Farewell 'Law & Order', We Knew Ye A Bit Too Much, Perhaps
It wasn't our intention yesterday to gloss over the "series" finale of "Law & Order" - with series in quotes because with so many spin-offs we're not really sure that "Law & Order" is over with, particularly for LA denizens as "Law & Order: Los Angeles" will be launching this Fall. There's also been talk of a big made-for-TV movie as well as cast members of the original making regular appearances on each of the spin-offs.
TV Junkie: The '24' Finale
Tonight we will stagger from last night's series finale of "Lost" to tonight's series finale of "24". In the 8 1/2 years since the premiere of "24" the show has gone from being an avant-garde, in-your-face morality play about terrorism, torture, and politics, to something formulaic and predictable. "24"'s combination of raw action and comical xenophobia was an entertaining circus to most of us but (disturbingly) taken as "truth" by the Bush II regime, the military, and "patriotic" pundits like Rush Limbaugh and his ilk. The series was at its strongest when it was about Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer and at its weakest when it became plot-focused.
