Foo Fighters @ The Forum, 10/13/11
After making the small clubs of Los Angeles their personal playground to trumpet and hype the release of their newest studio (garage, rather, as it was recorded in Dave Grohl's Encino garage) release, Wasting Light, the Foo Fighters recently made their arena return to the Forum for their first full blown show in over three years.

Prince's 21 Nights in LA - The Story So Far
Prince is now at roughly the halfway mark of his planned “21 Nights” stint, with eleven shows at the Forum and two sets at the Troubadour under his belt. We thought we’d check in on That Skinny MF With The High Voice once again and see how his extended LA residency is progressing.
Prince and the New Power Generation @ LA Forum 4/14/11
A little after midnight, more than three hours after Prince had first taken the stage at the LA Forum, after the house lights had been turned back on for the second time and most of the audience were already on the freeway headed home, about three thousand people stayed in their seats, refusing to call it a night. Throats ravaged from hooting for four encores in a row, they banged on their chairs and stomped their feet until, unbelievably, the lights went back out as the band re-took the stage for the fifth time and burst into a jaw-dropping version of Billy Cobham’s funk-metal-fusion standard “Stratus.”

Riot Police Shut Down Hard Summer Music Fest at Forum Last Night
Hard Summer was supposed to go all night at the Forum in Inglewood last night, and the sold out event had the venue packed (it seats 18,000). But for some reason, before things could even get too intense, the event was shut down by authorities. LA Times' music blog Pop & Hiss explains:
Saturday's all-night electronic event Hard Summer at the Forum was shut down by midnight. The event was declared a "hazard" by the Los Angeles County Fire Department, according to an Inglewood police representative. Based on the county department's recommendation, Hard Summer was called off. [...]more ›
Mayor's Opponents Call Him 'terrified,' 'crafty,' and 'almost like an old-style mob boss' during a Sunday Forum
With just over a week to go before the City of Los Angeles takes to the polls to elect--or re-elect--a Mayor, candidates for the job have been participating in public forums to get their platforms and pot-shots out. Yesterday, five of the nine candidates gathered in Tujunga at an event moderated by the Daily News' Ron Kaye; one of those five was decidedly not incumbent Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
City Attorney Candidate Jack Weiss a No-Show to Forum
As the March 3rd municipal election approaches, expect to see more debates between candidates fighting for the more heated seats such as City Controller and Attorney. On February 12, the regional Valley Alliance of Neighborhood Councils is hosting a candidates forum. Everyone vying for a school board, controller or attorney seat is attending except one person. You probably would have guessed it without the headline or photo, it's 5th District Councilmember Jack Weiss, who is well-known for being the most absent and unreachable politician in the city and was subject of a failed citizen's recall attempt.
