Yesterday, there were not many details about a "freshly-shot" body found at the Glendale-based Forest Lawn cemetery (as opposed to the Griffith Park location). As more details came out, we learn the shooting was likely gang related and that the murder happened within the city limits of Los Angeles, not Glendale. Jason Grey, 29, was visiting the cemetery for unknown reasons when he was shot multiple times in the upper and lower body around......

I “worked” the morning shift today. Reporting into Gate 2 at Warner Brothers before heading to Gate 7 on Forest Lawn. Yesterday afternoon, Gate 7 was dead, but this morning it’s bustling. Lots of traffic coming in and out of the gate. Again, lots of honking and thumbs ups from the passing cars. Again, I’m marching with a lot of writers who work on the Warner Brothers lot. They have ridiculous energy for this......

Gothamist learned about the craziest urban nightmare come true: A huge python found in the bathroom pipes. It was also a nightmare for some Yankees fans, as manger Joe Torre declined to come back and manage the Bronx Bombers. At least the city's attempt to give some direction to subway riders was interesting, pranksters went shirtless at the Fifth Avenue Abercrombie & Fitch and the I Heart Brooklyn Girls calendars came out. And just......

Forest Lawn in the Hollywood Hills has a variety of gardens, stained glass and art exhibits that attract a lot of attention. However, the Court of Liberty and the Birth of Liberty Mosaic don't hold much interest for me as a photographer. I am touched by the juxtoposition of beauty and sorrow in the marble statuary. I find peace in the serene faces, and I marvel at the way people are always able to......

Some more updates to the Mudslide that happened earlier today on Forest Lawn Drive. An estimated 27,000 DWP customers lost power due to rain and lightning. And the rain only seemed to hit hard in select parts of the Los Angeles area. And because of all this rain dumping crazy stuff into the ocean, stay away for at least three days. "Why am I consistently one of the only white people riding the bus......

This week, we ask LACityNerd some more technical questions on biking the LA River, money, art, cops and getting evicted. If you missed the Nerd last time, here is Part I. When can we realistically bike commute via the LA River Trail from the Valley to Downtown LA? The LA River trail may never connect completely from the Valley to Downtown - not until the hurtles of Warner Bros., CBS, and Universal Studios are......

Recently Angelenos were treated to something of a cemetery smackdown. It arrived via snail mail, unsolicited. In one corner, Forest Lawn's Advance Planning Services: "You may not want to think about what happens after you go, but don't leave your loved ones in a tough spot." Followed just days later by Rose Hills' Free Legacy Planner: "If you don't face your decisions toegther...one of you will face them alone! 131 Decisions in 72 hours!"......
