City Council to Vote on NFL Stadium Plan Today
The L.A. City Council is expected to vote today on a plan for an NFL Stadium at L.A. Live, reports CBS News. The plan, which would represent an agreement between the city and developer AEG, lays out the financial framework for the stadium.
Go, Fight, Win: L.A. is One Step Closer to a Football Stadium
Football fans, don't lose hold of your dreams for a local NFL team. An ad hoc L.A. City Council committee has endorsed developer AEG's financial framework plan for building a football stadium downtown at L.A. Live, reports ABC7. The vote took place last night, with committee members agreeing in a unanimous 4-0 vote to push the deal through to the full council.
LA Stadium Named Farmers Field, AEG Makes Bold Promises
AEG has struck a naming rights deal with Farmers Insurance Exchange on the planned NFL stadium downtown that's worth $700 million over 30 years, according to ESPN Los Angeles.
The deal means you may be flocking to see football games at "Farmers Field" but many hurdles remain before construction could begin on the newly named venue
HBO's "Entourage" Features Downtown Stadium Proposal
Just like in last week's episode, "Entourage" on HBO continues to comment on local L.A. news topics, most notably the prospect of bringing a NFL stadium to Los Angeles. In Sunday evening's episode, Hollywood power agent Ari Gold brings together high rolling potential funders to back his stadium proposal in downtown Los Angeles, next to L.A. Live. Seen in the group is Casey Wasserman, who in reality is actually proposing a stadium in that location. "The Downtown proposal is up against Staples Center partner Ed Roski's plan to put a stadium in the City of Industry," notes Eric Richardson at blogdowntown. "While Roski's efforts had a significant head start, the race really comes down to who can be the first to get a team to commit."
Will the NFL Stadium in City of Industry Ever Get Built?
As the idea to build a football stadium in downtown Los Angeles surfaced, more concern over the planned one out in the City of Industry have been raised. On Tuesday, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he was worried about how the 75,000-seat, $800-million facility would be built, the San Gabriel Tribune reported. However, that doesn't mean the NFL is resistant to Los Angeles. "We want to get back to LA. Hopefully it will happen soon," he said.
A Football Stadium Next to L.A. Live and Staples Center?
An idea to bring a football stadium to downtown Los Angeles has resurfaced, according to LA Times, citing multiple sources. The facility would be in direct competition with a stadium already in the works outside the city--developer Ed Roski's people say the news doesn't affect their progress--but at this point it's just a concept.
Chargers, Jaguars, Vikings, Rams & Raiders Among Football Teams that Could Move to SoCal
Although the proposed football stadium in the city of Industry awaits an important, yet possibly disastrous environmental vote in the State Senate, planners are eying what teams they could bring to Los Angeles County.
