Let's Party Like It's 1899*! Edwardian Ball Returning to LA

This Saturday night The Edwardian Ball returns to Los Angeles at the Music Box (Fonda). This will be the second Edwardian Ball in LA (the previous one was in January 2009) but the event has become an annual tradition in San Francisco, where they recently held their 11th consecutive ball. more ›

Do LaB's Halloween Bash Shaping Up Nicely

Do LaB's Halloween Bash Shaping Up Nicely

There's no shortage of excellent Halloween party options for Angelenos this weekend, but one of the most interesting looks to be the Do LaB's Halloween Bash at the Fonda this Saturday, featuring a performance by Beats Antique. No matter the season, a typical Beats Antique show looks like a Halloween costume party— featuring dancers wearing crazy animal heads, etc… so you can only imagine what kind of craziness they'll bring for a Halloween show. And good news for tribal fusion bellydance fans… it seems that Zoe Jakes has fully recovered from her illness and a busted toe and will be at full strength when she performs with Beats Antique. Opening acts include electronic artists Eliot Lipp and Jeremy Sole. more ›

Doctor's Orders: No NIN Show at the Fonda Tonight

Trent Reznor has fallen ill, forcing Nine Inch Nails' Wave Goodbye tour to be put on hold. Reznor said he had a cold during last night's concert at the Palladium, which included an appearance by Gary Numan joining NIN on Numan's "Cars." Soon after the show ended the band released the following message on its website: more ›

LAist Interview: Annuals' Adam Baker (and his mom, and Zach Galifianakis)

Tonight the Annuals are headlining the Troubadour. Although this North Carolina-based indie/folk/pop six-piece outfit has played some high-profile shows (at Coachella last year, and they've already appeared on Conan twice) they've never headlined a gig here in LA. However, they've been through here a couple times before as a supporting act, most recently in November when they played The Fonda with Minus The Bear. LAist was there and had a chance to get in a few questions with 22 year old lead singer Adam Baker, as well as a couple of the Annuals' biggest fans: Baker's mother (who flew in from North Carolina) and celebrity alt-comic Zach Galifianakis... more ›

X to Rock the Fonda Tonight, Tomorrow

X to Rock the Fonda Tonight, Tomorrow

If you live in Los Angeles or know anything about punk rock circa 1977 then you know about X. If you don't, Perry Farrell will tell you in the clip on the right. Farrell introduced X last month at SXSW, headliners of Spin's day party at Stubb's BBQ. The place was only two-thirds full after a mass exodus of sweater vests following a short set by Vampire Weekend. But all four original members of X -- now touring in celebration of their 31-year anniversary -- proved once and for all that punk's not dead (or at least that rock and roll is alive and kicking). more ›

Spoon w/ Kool Keith @ Fonda, 9/10/07

It was an odd pairing of acts at the Creative Commons benefit presented by Wired Magazine with indie darlings Spoon headlining the first of three nights at the Fonda and underground hip hop legend Dr. Octagon aka Kool Keith opening. Billed as the kick off event for this weekends Wired NextFest, the show was dynamic and entertaining.... more ›

Grand Ole Opry Revival in Hollywood

Grand Ole Opry Revival in Hollywood

(l-r): Billy Bob Thornton, Marty Stuart, Porter Wagoner, and Dwight Yoakam perform a surprise set before Neko Case @ The Henry Fonda Theatre. Photo courtesy Ice Cream Man. For the first time in recent history, Hollywood was rattled by bonafide foot-stomping. Many in the audience at the Music Box last night had no idea what was taking place when Neko Case announced Porter Wagoner's intention to take over Hollywood. But a historic buzz took... more ›
