Even on the best days, the Sundance Film Festival is an extremely hectic place to be. Screenings and events often overlap and are spread all over town, and even though the public transportation is good (and free!), it can still be a nightmare to get someplace quickly. Cabs can be hard to come by and parking (when available) is expensive. Furthermore, there are always going to be lines waiting for you so you have to plan to get everywhere fairly early. Sometimes, you get bit in the ass like I did (twice) yesterday.

I walked into Feast of Love with high expectations. Despite his reputation in some corners as a lightweight (probably only because he hosted Talk Soup all those years ago), I think Greg Kinnear is a profoundly underrated actor. His recent work, especially in Auto Focus, The Matador and Little Miss Sunshine has been wonderfully understated. Hot Fuzz - The guys who made the brilliant zombie spoof Shaun of the Dead, writer/director Edgar Wright and co-writer/star Simon Pegg, reteam for Hot Fuzz, what looks to be a hilarious spoof on the police thriller. Jealous colleagues have London's best cop (Simon Pegg) transferred to the peaceful village of Sandford, where he is partnered with an enthusiastic but witless police officer (Nick Frost) who longs for gunfights and car chases to break up the monotony of small-town policing. When the pair stumble upon a series of suspicious accidents, it looks like Sandford may not be such an idyllic burg after all.

It's a short work week for most, but that doesn't mean that we can't already start planning for next weekend's fun. This Friday and Saturday Bon Appetit Magazine is coming to Los Angeles for a very special 50th anniversary celebration heralded as "The Ultimate Wine and Dine Weekend." The event brings together "some of the country's most celebrated chefs and entertaining personalities paired with the dynamic culinary talents of Los Angeles and Southern California." There will be workshops focused on food and wine, tastings, seminars, a Grand Tasting featuring 50 top chefs, and the chance to walk along Rodeo Drive and taste and mingle with top names in cooking and retail. Participants include Honorary Co-Chair and local legend Wolfgang Puck, the stylish Colin Cowie, Bon Appetit's Test Kitchen guru Cat Cora, and the ubiquitous Border Girls Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger, and the magazine Editor Barbara Fairchild. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Chefs for Humanity.

At Dutton's Beverly Hills, Bill Kurtis will be signing his new book, The Death Penalty on Trial, at 7 PM. There will also be a roundtable discussion with Kurtis and members of the Death Penalty Focus Group.

The victim was discovered on the sidewalk suffering from a stab wound to his right thigh. He died as a result of his injuries. Detectives searched the area for evidence and located three individuals who possibly knew the victim. During further interviews, it was determined that one of the individuals was the victim's girlfriend.

LAist doesn't usually bother with entertainment news, but an interesting tidbit just popped up, courtesy of Out of Focus. It seems that Hollywood's Kodak Theater is going to host the new musical The Ten Commandments this fall. While that is great and all, LAist thought it is worth mentioning because Val Kilmer will be playing the lead—as Moses.
