Sometimes a team loses in the long run despite winning a particular game. Thanks to injuries to Willie Mitchell and Mike Richards in the game, the Kings look like the losers on the ice despite their 2-1 victory over the rarely seen Florida Panthers.
Kings Overcome Injuries, Chase Panthers For Victory
Kings Win Ugly Against Panthers
It wasn’t pretty, but the Kings will take their 3-2 victory over the Florida Panthers breaking their four-game losing streak and seven losses in their last eight games.
“We got tired of losing,” left winger Kyle Clifford said after scoring his first NHL point on the game-tying goal by Peter Harrold in the third period.
Despite that mindset, fans could have been easily fooled in the first period as passes were missing their intended targets, shots were blocked by the Panthers defense and loose pucks were being lost.
LAst Night's Action: Clippers Do It Again
LA Clippers defeat San Antonio Spurs 90-85. Well it looks like the 19th time is the charm for the Clippers. Having being beaten by the Spurs in their previous 18 meetings, the Clippers finally found a way to defeat the Spurs.
This despite their penchant to handing the ball back to the Spurs. The Clippers turned the ball over 18 times and even more disturbing at times they gave up 18 offensive boards to the Spurs. That was the recipe for a blowout Spurs win.
LAst Night's Action: Historic Night for Kobe, Forgettable for Lakers
Memphis Grizzlies defeat LA Lakers 95-93. Kobe Bryant’s 44 point effort made him the Lakers all time leading scorer. All that was for naught as sloppy play and turnovers gave the Grizzlies the win. On their final game of an eight game road trip and coming off of an emotional win in Boston Sunday afternoon, it seemed natural for a letdown to occur.
LAst Night's Action: Kings Beat Panthers for Winning Road Trip
LA Kings defeat Florida Panthers 4-3 (SO). Jack Johnson shoots the winning goal in the shootout as the Kings notch a victory in their last two games on the road for a winning road trip going 3-2-0. The Panthers came out in the second period scoring two goals within two minutes. Johnson would get the Kings in the game with a power play goal halfway in the second period. After Jarrett Stoll knocked evened the game in the third period on a power play goal, the Lightning had a power play opportunity. Randy Jones helped to kill the penalty by scoring a short handed goal for the Kings to take the lead with seconds left in the power play. The win gives the Kings 28 points, second most in the Western Conference.
