First cell phones and now the car. California, you're grounded. Why? Because you broke curfew to go on a date with that college boy and you're $25.4 billion over your allowance. On Friday, Jerry Brown ordered California agencies to immediately stop buying new cars and announced that all vehicles deemed non-essential for state business are to be sold within 120 days.

2,360 Trips To The Moon For The C-17 Globemaster Fleet
The worldwide fleet of Boeing C-17 Globemaster III airlifters reached a flight milestone by surpassing 2 million flying hours -- equivalent to 1.13 billion nautical miles, equivalent to a C-17 flying to the moon and back 2,360 times -- during an airdrop mission over Afghanistan earlier this month in a Long Beach-build aircraft.
Long Beach Tests Out Biodiesel
Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster and City Councilmember Bonnie Lowenthal greeted members of the press and community for a beachfront demonstration of the City's biodiesel program on Tuesday morning. Biodiesel is a cleaner-burning alternative to petroleum diesel and will reduce emissions of carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and smoke particulates. Ten city vehicles, including skip loaders, tractors and dump trucks will be fueled up with a mixture of 80% diesel and 20% biodiesel over the next 3-6 months to test the cost effectiveness and reliability of these fuels. Existing city vehicles can run on this new fuel without needing any modifications, and the horsepower of the engines remains about equal. If the program is as successful as expected, the City will consider the use of biodiesel in as many as 250 additional vehicles.
