The "Lost Fire" in Agoura Hills last Tuesday was under investigation by LA County Sheriff's after they found evidence of arson. The case soon was solved after the responsible parties turned themselves in. "Two juveniles have confessed to accidentally starting an 80-acre brush fire near Malibu Creek State Park while playing with fireworks, a sheriff's lieutenant said Thursday," reported the Associated Press. Witnesses told police earlier that they saw two boys running from the fire......

This week didn't seem to be as hot as predicted, but this week's classical pick is packing some heat! Which is literally the case here, since they will have fireworks at the end of the show this Thursday at the Hollywood Bowl. The program has a distinctly Eastern flavor, with music from Russian and Chinese composers, with the world famous pianist Lang Lang and LA Phil's Assistant Principal cellist Ben Hong as the soloists. The......

Photo by Zeroth57, used with permission The use of fireworks and explosives are prohibited in the City of Los Angeles, but that doesn't stop people. The city estimates illegal fireworks caused a total of over $380,000 in property damages in 2007. Eeek! However, for most residents, it's all about enjoying the fireworks displays around town. Tonight, there will be about eight fireworks shows from Altadena to the Hollywood Bowl (Go Dodgers!) to Norwalk. On......

How will you be spending the holiday? Many people see fireworks from the same location every year. Others search the city for the best show. LAist friend Marc J. Sahara of The Inconvenient Bag has a few thoughts to share with us about celebrating July 4th. He spends his days trying to convince people to use canvas bags, recycle, and think about the world around us. Does the holiday create too much environmental waste......

The majority (80%) will travel by car the rest by air. The last time the Fourth of July holiday fell on......

I often take short, random Quicktime videos with my camera. The uploads are limited, so they are sometimes abrupt. Here is a little entertainment from Wicked Wednesdays, the Lotus Festival. and Mods and Rockers. Let's start things off with a clip of Emily Rozek singing the hit showtune, Popular. Many more after the jump!......

All fireworks in LA are illegal. Any time you drive over the speed limit, that's illegal too. Any time you drink a few more beers than you should and get behind the wheel, that's illegal. And any time you lie under oath and obstruct justice when a Special Prosecutor is trying to figure out if the Vice President of the United States authorized a leak of classified information so this administration could continue to......

One year a neighbor invited us to the exclusive 4th of July soiree at the Wilshire Country Club. Not knowing what to expect, we drove over to the club and inside the very big gates. Our daughter enjoyed the bar-b-que, moon-bounce, giant slides, enormous dance floor with DJ, ice cream sundaes, and of course a spectacular fireworks show. We thanked our friends for including us and drove home to put our little one to......

No, this is not the set of Casino 2. After 49 years, the hotel that helped modernize the glam-it-up, get-you-drunk, take-your-money Vegas we know and love is kaput. Stardust was imploded in grand fashion early this morning to make room for the $4.4 billion Boyd's Echelon Place megaplex. AP photo by Darrin Bush. More at Yahoo! News' slideshow.......
