When it comes to the oft-debated realm of the new wave of food trucks taking to the streets of Los Angeles, the topic tends to move towards what's missing. Finding a niche is key for food trucks who hope to join the ranks of the successful food-making four-wheeled Twitterati who draw lines and accolades. What has been missing for sometime was Filipino food, which is what nourishes a segment of our local population but also represents food that is perfect for a truck, since that means exposure to those who are curious about the cuisine. more ›

Filipino Food! Barrio Fiesta

         

I was very excited to go to Barrio Fiesta with my Filipino friends Isabel and William. I had very little exposure to Filipino food before, so I was mentally pumped to try all the new stuff they were going to throw at me. Let me say it now, I was not dissapointed. The restaurant is on the East side of Eagle Rock Blvd in Eagle Rock. The parking is a bit tough, as the good-sized restaurant only has a small valet lot. There's plenty of street parking in the residential zones a block away -- but the downside is that you have to breathe in the incredible smell of food as you walk to the restaurant. more ›
