Somali Pirate Pleads Guilty to Killing SoCal Couple from Hijacked Yacht

Mohamud Hirs Issa Ali of Somalia is "among 15 suspects from Somalia and Yemen facing charges related to the February hijacking of the yacht Quest."
Judge Blocks Parts of Arizona's Immigration Law
Just one day before it is set to go into effect, a federal just this morning blocked a part of Arizona's SB 1070, the controversial immigration law. Parts blocks include, per the Arizona Daily Star: "Requiring a police officer to make a reasonable attempt to check the immigration status of those they have stopped, making it a violation of Arizona law for anyone not a citizen to fail to carry documenation, creating a new state crime for trying to secure work while not a legal resident, allowing police to make warrantless arrests if there is a belief the person has committed an offense that allows them to be removed from the United States." U.S. District Judge Susan R. Bolton said that the federal government "'is likely to succeed' in its challenge of the legality of one of the most controversial sections of the Arizona law," noted CNN.
Bush vs. Gore Attorneys Team up to Fight Prop 8 in Federal Court
Two top attorneys who argued Bush v. Gore on opposite sides have now joined forces to strike down Prop 8 in federal court, filing for a preliminary injunction against same-sex marriage ban until the case is resolved, which would immediately reinstate the right for all Californians to marry. Theodore B. Olson and David will officially announce their case tomorrow morning in downtown, according to the American Foundation for Equal Rights.

Abdel Nasser Eid Youssef and Amal Ahmed Ewis Abd-Motelib are charged with bringing a minor girl to the United States through visa fraud, then holding her for two years and forcing her to work in their home. They allegedly threatened harm to her sister and told the minor she would be arrested if she left the house. They allegedly beat her, held her in servitude, abused her by other means and hid her from immigration officials, promising her parents in Egypt that they would send them $30 a month.
