She's at the forefront of a small but growing group of young female street artists who are breaking down expectations about what has long been seen as a male-dominated field. Curbed LA followed up on rumors that Trader Joe's is being considered as a possible tenant at the A.F. Gilmore, Mark Panatier, responded, "We're talking to lots of folks," regarding the retail space. When asked directly about Trader Joe's? he repeated, "We're talking to lots of folks." So... Call me Animal. That's my Name!

The room at Animal is much smaller than expected, and with little to muffle the sound, it is a cacophony of voices, with music cranking as hard as it can to keep up. In a strange way though, the environment matches the intensity of the food. This is not the kind of place where you insist they turn down the music or turn up the heat. It's not the kind of place where you insist on the best table in the house; you are grateful to get any table at all. It's not that the place is hoity-toity, it's just that the demand exceeds the supply. Everyone wants in. more ›

Fairfax Boulevard is Actually in Silver Lake

Fairfax Boulevard is Actually in Silver Lake

That's local geography according to Hollywood film editing, at least. Michael Schneider at Franklin Avenue has been following ABC's FlashFoward closely, debunking the show's geography with real geography, which is always amusing. "The two characters in this car had been downtown at the Coroner's Office. They found a clue and decided to head to Silver Lake. So they drive... down Fairfax, in front of the old Johnie's at Wilshire and Fairfax," he writes. Later, trick-or-treating in the West Valley quickly turns into a scene at the Hollywood Forever Cemetary. Also, in this world of L.A., there is no MTA, it's the UTA, as in Urban Transit Authority. more ›

Gay Guy Becomes Fairfax High's Prom Queen

Gay Guy Becomes Fairfax High's Prom Queen

"At one time, prom may have been a big popularity contest where the best-looking guy or girl were crowned king and queen. Things have changed and it's no longer just about who has the most friends or who wears the coolest clothes," said Sergio Garcia, who beat out girls to be this year's prom queen, in his campaign to become prom queen, something he said was more of a stunt in the first place. "Sure, I'm not your typical prom queen candidate. There's more to me than meets the eye." At the prom, he'll be wearing a suit. more ›
