While San Diego can still lay claim to ComicCon, the center of the fanboy and fangirl universe shifts north this weekend for two shows: DesignerCon at the Pasadena Convention Center on Saturday and Comikaze Expo at the LA Convention Center on both Saturday and Sunday.

Police Warn Against Lighting Up at Cypress Hill Smokeout
This weekend is the big two-day music festival and cannabis expo at the San Manuel Amphitheater and police are ready to make arrests. Cypress Hills, Slipnot, Deftones among many other bands are playing alongside the Cannibus Cup, Medical Marijuana Expo and 4:20 Movie Night. In a statement, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department warns against any recreational use of the drug. "Further, there is no provision in the law for the use of marijuana while operating a motor vehicle, whether someone possesses a doctor's recommendation for the drug or not."
E3 is Coming Back to LA Next Year
“With nearly a half million Angelenos employed by the technology and hospitality sectors, Los Angeles is a perfect fit for E3,” Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said earlier this week welcoming the expo back to Los Angeles and touting how it and its 41,000 attendees bring $15 million to the local economy. Ironically enough, he said that below a banner advertising a game that has players build their own street gang and kill the competition.
