uWink, the entertainment/dining "experience," has just announced plans to open a new location in the Hollywood & Highland complex, in the space formerly occupied by Wolfgang Puck's Brasserie Vert. The restaurant is coming to Hollywood sometime in early May 2008, and promises to bring as-of-yet-unheard-of levels of FUN!!! and FAMILY EXCITEMENT!!! to the Highland complex.

All good things come from the Valley first. Lucky for those who stay "over the hill," Executive Chef David Anderson at LA's fanciest and tastiest vegan affair in the Tarzana Safari Walk (yes, that's an official Los Angeles Neighborhood, city blue sign and all), there is plans to open up a new vegan eatery with full bar on the Westside according to VegNews, who gave his West Valley restaurant a 2007 Veggie Award (Note: VegNews is the real magazine for Vegetarians, not that other mag). But first thing's first; and that's starting your weekend brunch at his restaurant on Ventura Boulevard -- Madeleine Bistro.
A Word or 108: Superbowl Redux: I found myself wandering over to the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet a couple times yesterday, and that isn't a bad thing -- the kitten halftime show was excellent. Almost all the Superbowl commercials had been leaked onto the web a week ago so there was nothing new there. I still can't understand why, with all those professionals there, that it would take almost Prince's entire (fantastic) set...
A couple of months ago we hinted that we wanted to dine at dowtown's Water Grill, perhaps in a celebratory capacity. Well, our wish was indeed granted, and we made our first visit to what many herald is a top spot for seafood in the city. Because we were coming off a sugar high most likely induced from one too many slices of "Happy Graduation (insert name here)!" cake consumed in those days, we didn't get to lapse into the food coma we so treasure after a meal in such a place. So we did what any smart food fan might do: We went back.
Why is this relevant, you may wonder? Well, it seems that two of our favorite local chefs, Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger, of Border Grill and Ciudad fame, are in the running to become America's Next Top White House Chefs (if it were, in fact, a reality show).
