Morrison Hotel Gallery hosted the opening of Pattie Boyd’s photographs Saturday night, where the still-stunning Boyd chatted effusively with guests and old friends (although no Ringo appearance as rumored.) The exhibit focuses on Boyd’s beginning work, giving a remarkable view into a private world that only a Beatle wife – and later, Eric Clapton’s – could have. In one shot, a dreamy eyed, shirtless George gazes into the camera, sunglasses at his side, in a......

Because George Harrison was my favorite Beatle, I devoured Wonderful Tonight: George Harrison, Eric Clapton, and Me, a memoir by his first wife Pattie Boyd (of whom I confess I was, in my Beatle phase, horribly jealous) within days of its publication last year. Since recovering from her marriages, Pattie has become known as a photographer. This Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m., a show of her photographs opens at the Morrison Hotel Gallery......

For those of us not stuck on the 15 to Vegas, here's what's going on around town tonight: FILM The So Bad It's Good Film Fest presents the movie that showed how crazy Joan Crawford really was: Mommie Dearest. But it's "Faye Dunaway's over-the-top performance in the lead role has become legendary." There are prizes for the best Joan Crawford costume at the show: dinner for two at Saddle Ranch Chop House and a guest......

With reports of The King of Pop's financial troubles continuing to moonwalk all over the press, it's hard to feel sorry for the middle aged superstar, considering he hasn't really seemed to try to work out his issues - literally. You'd think a guy like Michael Jackson could do a few concerts and collect the $212,963 that's reportedly outstanding on his $23,212,963 mortgage on his sprawling ranch north of Santa Barbara. This summer Pollstar......

Artist: Neil Young Album: Chrome Dreams Two Label: Reprise Records Release Date: October 23, 2007 “An ambulance can only go so fast”, sang Neil Young thirty-three years ago in the stony career meditation “Ambulance Blues.” “It’s easy to get buried in the past/ When you try to make a good thing last.” It’s kind of funny to think about guys like Pete Townshend and Eric Clapton making records about the perils of aging at......

When I had the opportunity to go see Back Door Slam and Rusted Root at the House of Blues, I didn't know much about the first band, but I figured why not catch up with Rusted Root, that eclectic, blue grass infused with international sounds rock band? I remembered them from high school, when I bought that lovely album called "When I Woke," with the ever-popular "Send Me on My Way." Turns out my......

It was either 1986 or '87. LAist was living in Inglewood within walking distance of the Fabulous Forum. We were young and impressionable. We had heard of the legend of "Clapton is God", but we were also fascinated by a new guy named Robert Cray who was just breaking into the scene with a blues tune that was actually getting played on MTV - something unheard of unless your name was Stevie Ray. So......

There were many repulsive things about Pearl Jam during the short yet beautiful Grunge Years. All of it had to do with their music. On paper they did everything right -- they were against videos, they took on Ticketmaster, they didn't hang out with model/actresses. But musically they were the worst parts of REM mixed with the worst parts of STP. Vedder posed like everything he was mumbling was soooo important, he fluttered his......

This morning, a small service was held in San Luis Obispo to honor the passing of Los Angeles musical icon Ernie Ball, who passed away September 9th. Even if you aren't a guitar player, chances are you've seen the brightly colored packages that hold Ernie Ball strings—a staple amongst nearly all guitar players. A native of Santa Monica, Ernie Ball was a successful musician, playing in many bands and on television before starting up......
