Let's face it: Halloween is all about entitlement. It’s an annual occasion to tell our kids, “Put on a cute little outfit, knock on strangers’ doors, and they have no choice but to hand you a free bounty of glorious junk food. If they refuse, you have society's blessing to toilet paper their yard and smush eggs in their mailbox.” On the face of it, it's horrifying: parents teaching their kids to beg for handouts, assuring them they're entitled to get something for nothing. But Halloween is all about horror. And if it means apple-cheeked tots knocking on our door in Spongebob outfits and chirping, "Twick a tweet!", then we're all for it. more ›

As to the tax structure, we humbly suggest the following: SUVs: $1,000; Mercedes SUVs: $3,000; Hummers: $1,000,000. We promise that not every installment of the A&E Report will focus on parking, but there's a reason the first two installments do: parking in this city — big time. It's a curse that affects us all, and most of us just suck it up and suffer through it. But the arrogant and entitled don't play by the rules, and they've made parking more of a nightmare than it needs to be. more ›

Two qualities that can be found in ample and regrettable supply among Angelenos are arrogance and a sense of entitlement. You see it all the time, people who feel like the rules don't apply to them, who think they can get away with things the rest of us would never stoop to attempt. Sometimes, their actions cause direct harm or gross inconvenience to other people. More often, they just piss us off. We may pray constantly for their eventual comeuppance, only to sigh with the knowledge that more often than not, behavior like theirs is rewarded in our city. Is there no one to stand up for the good guys? Well, now there is. And so we institute the A&E Report in an effort to chronicle the arrogance and entitlement that makes our lives just a little more aggravating and to put the jerks on notice that their comeuppance has just come up. more ›
