U.S. Earns Respect with Draw
The U.S. National Team faced a tough test on Saturday in its FIFA World Cup 2010 debut, facing England, one of the tournament's favorites. It was a rematch sixty years in the making. The last time the two teams faced each other was the 1950 edition of the World Cup in Brazil, when the U.S. upset England by a score of 1 - 0. A feat so shocking, English fans believed the scoreline to be a misprint. England has since hosted and won the World Cup in 1966, but the U.S. game has had its ups and downs.

LAPD Chief Awarded as Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. What?!?!
In the past LAPD Chief William Bratton was rumored to be a top candidate to take over Scotland Yard. He denied that and he's still here serving Los Angeles today. However, today Her Majesty awarded him with the honorary title Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for his work to promote cooperation between the United States (US) and United Kingdom (UK) police, both before and during his service with LAPD.

Photo Essay: Highgate Cemetery, UK
There is something bittersweet in the crumbling monuments that have fallen into disrepair. Moss creeps over the stones, vines tangle, and the tombs are engulfed by overgrowth as they are reclaimed by the earth. Nothing is permanent. These photos were taken in Highgate Cemetery in London, which is remote and virtually abandoned. There is a feeling of mystery and a slight sense of danger - not from the dead occupants, but the live ones...
Photo Essay: Brompton Cemetary, UK
Like most people, proximity to death frightens me. Somehow the beauty of the headstones and obelisks overshadows my fear. To me, cemetaries are like museums. The mediums themselves - cool white marble, wrought iron fences, cracked bricks and mortar speak to me. But what really entrances me is the statuary, especially the angels. Their serene countenance and peacefulness somehow embraces penultimate sorrow. They have the ability to show respect for loss while still offering...
Fonejackers > Crank Yankers
Did you know that our friends across the pond, in all their subtle humored-glory, have a prank phone calling show all their own? I think Crank Yankers could learn a thing or two from these guys. Or its quite possible that its only funny if you're high. Either way, give it a look and tell us what you think....
Stupid Sexy Pagans!
The Simpsons Movie global-dominance-marketing-crusade marks another notch in the bedpost of ruffled feathers. Who knew that Pagans had no sense of humor? I would have guessed the symbol superstars to be down with the whole why don’t we "Do It In The Donut” message of pastry love. This promotional, biodegradable, painting was unleashed on a hillside near the very old and very naked fertility carving in Southern England. Doh! Eight days and counting... AP...
