Tonight In Rock: Pinback, Miniature Tigers, Signal Hill, Luis & The Wildfires
Tonight San Diegan indie rockers Pinback will be headlining the El Rey Theatre with local experimental two-man band El Ten Eleven. Phoenix-by-way-of-LA indie pop quartet Miniature Tigers (LAist Interview, Review) are poised to take on Spaceland with none other than local indie pop quartet Superhumanoids, who will be ringing in their latest EP—2010's Urgency. And, lastly, LAist's favorite instrumental act Signal Hill will be gracing the hole-and-corner Pehrspace. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Echoplex to catch Wild Records' 'A Night of 1950's Style Punk.' LAist favorites, local rockabilly act Luis & The Wildfires, among many other Wild Records mainstays are slated to perform.
Tonight In Rock: Mates Of State, Baths, Stevenson Ranch Davidians, Moses Campbell
Tonight Kansas-bred indie pop duo Mates of States (LAist Review) will be concluding a two-night stint at the Echo with none other than the City of Brotherly Love's rock and roll quintet Free Energy (LAist Interview). Local folk rockers the Stevenson Ranch Davidians are poised to perform for free at Casey's Irish Bar & Grill in Downtown. And, lastly, LA-based folk-infused indie rock sextet Moses Campbell will be throwing a tour fundraiser at Pehrspace with a bevy of great local musicians. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Troubadour to catch Chatsworth's own producer/electronic mastermind Will Wiesenfeld, otherwise known as Baths, who will be ringing in his debut studio album—2010's Cerulean. LAist favorites, electronic music pioneer Daedelus and experimental two-man band El Ten Eleven are slated to kick things off.
Tonight In Rock: Blitzen Trapper, Pop Levi, Saint Motel, Best Coast

And, lastly, LA-based alt-country troubadour Leslie and the Badgers will be closing out their residency at the Echo with local lo-fi pop act Best Coast. But we strongly suggest heading over to Spaceland to catch the final night of local indie rock outfit Saint Motel's (LAist Interview) month-long residency. LAist favorites, Burbank-based experimental psych folk outfit Gangi (LAist Review) and Silver Lake-based indie rockers Links are slated to perform as well.
Tonight: Vetiver, Silversun Pickups, La Roux, Mike Stinson
Tonight San Franciscan folk rockers Vetiver will be taking on a two-night stint at the Center for the Arts in Eagle Rock with none other than Oregon-based singer-songwriter Richard Swift. Tuesday is the biggest day of the week for audiophiles. We're like kids in
a candy store. In the spirit of that dizzy euphoria, we're launching our weekly
guide to what's hot and what's not. Since LAist is an online entity, our primary
focus on Tuesdays will be digital downloads. Why? We think digital is the
future of music. For instance, Warner Music recently announced plans for a
digital label, dubbed Cordless; Apple, Cingular and Motorola teamed
up to make ROKR; and iTunes now
offers digital liner notes for many of the albums in its catalogue. If video
killed the radio star, then digital music is the successor to the aging MTV.
What's Hot:
The best-selling digital singles this week were Kanye
West's Gold
Digger,
Fall Out Boy's Sugar,
We're Goin' Down, Black Eyed Peas' My
Humps,
Missy Elliot's Lose
Control and Green Day's Wake
Me Up When September Ends.*
Online Exclusives:
Over at iTunes, you can pre-order Fiona
Apple's long-awaited Extraordinary
Machine, Sheryl Crow's Wildflower, Franz
Ferdinand's You
Could Have It So Much Better, and Depeche
Mode's Playing
The Angel. If you purchase the Depeche Mode album, you're also
eligible for an exclusive pre-sale for their forthcoming tour.
