On the the eight-year anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, hundreds, possibly thousands, of people with varied political opinions converged at Noon on Saturday at the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine to protest U.S. engagement in Iraq and Afghanistan and to march in an annual anti-war demonstration organized by Act Now to Stop War and End Racism (ANSWER). Many streets will be closed again for the 2011 LA Marathon. Drive accordingly.

Hosni Mubarak Addresses Egypt [Updated]

Watch NOW as Hosni Mubarak addresses Egypt on streaming Al Jazeera television after seven days of violent and destructive anti-government protests in the country. In his address, he said that he will not step down, he will continue his term, but will not seek reelection. Wilshire Blvd Demonstrations Show Support For Egypt Protests

       

Demonstrators in Westwood are filling the streets in front of the Federal Building in support of the anti-government protests happening for a fifth day in Egypt. Members of the local chapter of Act Now to Stop War and End Racism (ANSWER) are planning to gather through the afternoon, reports CBS Local, while a separate demonstration is set outside the Egyptian Consulate on Wilshire Boulevard, "where protesters will call for an end to about $1.5 billion annually in U.S. economic and military aid to the Mubarak regime. That group plans to join the Westwood demonstration about 2:30 p.m."
