Echo Park's Lady of the Lake On the Move
If you're a regular visitor to Echo Park Lake, you may wonder if that statue of a woman you're used to seeing in one place came to life and moved herself to a new locale. Well, no such fairy tale to tell today; the "Lady of the Lake" was picked up and moved as part of a massive clean-up project going on at the park.
Maria The Goose Gets A Temporary Home At The L.A. Zoo
Looks like city figured out how to temporarily solve a problem like Maria by moving the famous Echo Park goose to the Los Angeles Zoo during upcoming construction and rehab at the lake, reports ABC Local. But what will this mean for the daily walk/fly she takes with BFF Dominic Ehler?! Is he moving there too?
On the 'Advice of Strangers' Local Artist Puts Underwear on Head and Paddles Echo Park Lake on an Air Mattress
Yesterday, The Eastsider LA spotted a man bravely--or foolishly--attempting to paddle himself around Echo Park Lake on an air mattress.
What could have been construed as a belated protest over the city shutting down the pedal boat operations on the ailing waterway was actually part of a month-long project by artist Marc Horowitz called "The Advice of Strangers."
Police Searching for Echo Park Rape Suspect
On Christmas night last year, a 15-year-old girl was walking by Echo Park Lake when she was approached my an older man who somehow got her to a secluded area of the park to rape her. 826LA Paddleboat Regatta Raises $1,000s for Charity
More than 40 paddleboat teams took to Echo Park Lake last weekend to raise money for 826LA. Teams were required to raise at least $100 for entry and some teams raised well above and beyond to generate an estimated $20,000 in funds for one-on-one writing tutorials and workshops for students age 6-18. 826LA's two locations (in Venice and Echo Park) are staffed entirely by volunteers dedicated to teaching and inspiring students to write creatively. The regatta was a success by all accounts, and likely the most tempting reason to get into Echo Park Lake all summer.

Beastie Boys - Netty's Girl
Adam is asking you, the reader, about movies that you might remember that were filmed at Echo Park Lake. While we can think of many, our favorite non-movie was the music video to Netty's Girl by the Beastie Boys. Who we miss very much and wish they'd put out a metal record or something....
Echo Park Lake, You're a Star!
It's well known that before there was "Hollywood," there was Edendale, home of Mack Sennett's Keystone Studios but lately the indie film shooting hot spot in 90026/39 seems to be Echo Park Lake. It's not like Echo Park suddenly reemerged on the live set scene following the excellent, filmed-throughout-Echo-Park Quinceañera, in fact, we're sure that numerous films have filmed key scenes at the home of the Lotus Fest and Dragon Boat Races. Last month,...
