TV Junkie: New Michael Ian Black Show; CBS' Woes

Our friend Michael Ian Black and his fellow "The State" colleague, Michael Showalter, will finally again be gracing the airways on a new Comedy Central show this summer called "Michael and Michael Have Issues". The first of seven episodes will premiere in July and we can't wait for them [hint, get us screeners or even have us visit the set]. more ›

TV Junkie: A Spelling Returns to '90210'; Bielski Bros. Doc. Airs Tonight

Fans of "Beverly Hills, 90210", and we mean the real original fans, might be elated to know that, yes, Tori Spelling will be joining the cast of the new "90210" sometime around the 19th episode this season so I guess you had better start watching now so that you know what the heck is going on when she makes her debut. more ›

TV Junkie: Thursday - Season Finale Night

We've got (at least) 6 season finales tonight. Speaking of finales of sorts, CNET was bought by CBS for $1.8 billion. In a day where the old school dinosaurs have been shedding their digital assets, it's pretty remarkable that CNET's management pulled off a sale, especially for that amount, for a property that has regressed to not much more than a newsfeed, and product review site. Also, if you remember, CNET actually had original TV programming with "CNET Central" and "The Web" on the Sci Fi Channel and the USA Network. Unfortunately, CNET also gave us "The New Edge" with Ryan Seacrest as host in one of his first ever TV gigs, and for that they should never be forgiven. more ›

So while TV is still recovering from the writers' strike another strike looms on the horizon. According to Variety, the Screen Actors' Guild signed a pact with producers of indie films that will ensure that an indie film in production will be completed in the event that SAG goes on strike. This sounds like a good thing but it's being interpreted as a move to put pressure on major producers to get inline with SAG demands but per the experience of the WGA strike a few months ago, it's unlikely that the producers will just roll with the punch. While this may appear to be fantasy the reality is that all major productions currently in the works are all scheduled to be completed by June 30th, the date that the SAG contract expires - not a coincidence. Gird your loins my friends,it could be a long summer. more ›

TV Junkie: Thursday

Thursdays have returned to boring-ness what with "Lost" on hiatus. Tonight we have the return of Earl which does look funny. Other than a couple season finales the evening is relatively empty. Supposedly MTV is celebrating the 20th anniversary of "Yo! MTV Raps" with all kind of reruns etc. but I can't find the goddam things in the online schedule in between all the reality programming. If you are looking for more music TV, I just got a press release stating that MySpace is attempting to be the place for it as it entered into an agreement with Sony BMG, Universal Music Group, and Warner Music Group, to present all sorts of music content including streaming video. [Last ditch effort by the labels?] more ›
