The season wasn’t supposed to go like this. After winning five of their first seven games, the Kings have stumbled losing six of their next seven. That was not supposed to happen with their much-heralded offseason acquisitions of Mike Richards and Simon Gagne for the offense.
The Kings Win!
LAst Night's Action: Dan Ellis Saves Ducks in San Jose
Anaheim Ducks defeat San Jose Sharks 3-2. The Sharks’ pregame show was happy that Ducks’ no. 1 goaltender Jonas Hiller was given the day off to be replaced by Dan Ellis. All Ellis did was make 41 saves, 15 of which came in a third period that saw the Ducks get very sloppy. The Ducks are now 4-1-0 early in this season.
Dustin Penner Shows Offseason Commitment to Kings
After the Kings’ season disappointingly ended in another first-round exit from the playoffs - this time at the hands of divisional rivals San Jose Sharks -right or wrong a lot of fingers were pointed at Dustin Penner and his fitness.
Penner's First Practice with Kings
“We’re not asking him to be the savior of the franchise,” Kings head coach Terry Murray told reporters today after morning practice at the Kings’ practice facility in El Segundo, Calif.
Of course by “him” Murray is referring to the 6-foot-4, 240 pound left winger Dustin Penner whom the Kings acquired on Monday before the trade deadline from the Edmonton Oilers for minor-league defenseman Colton Teubert, a first-round draft pick in 2011 draft and a conditional third-round draft pick in 2012.
Kings Acquire Dustin Penner at Trade Deadline, Re-Sign Williams
Edmonton Oilers forward Dustin Penner joins the ranks of Sean O'Donnell, Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma, Lubomir Visnovsky and Kyle Calder: players who have played for both the Ducks and the Kings.

LAst Night's Action: 3 up, 3 down
Dodgers 3, Rockies 0 - Brad Penny threw 108 pitches in 6 and 1/3 innings, striking out 3 and walking 4. The most important number he had was the Rockies'. Penny earned his sixth straight win against Colorado and is 11-2 lifetime. He retired 11 straight batters before hitting Chris Iannetta on his final pitch. Takashi Saito earned his fifth save in five tries. Angels 4, Indians 1 - Still playing in Milwaukee thanks to...
LAst Night's Action: Ducks Soar Over Hawks
Ducks 3, Blackhawks 1 - Tied for last (actually behind the Kings) in the West, Chicago didn't present much of a challenge for playoff-bound Anaheim. After giving up a power play late in the first, the Ducks responded with two goals by rookie Dustin Penner in the second. A third goal by George Parros put it out of reach in the third. Rockets 92, Clippers 87 - Los Angeles led Houston 87-85 with less than...
