Angelo Bowers, the 26-year-old man who was killed by a drunk driver earlier this week in Hollywood, was a promising comedian who performed regularly on the local circuit. Since his death, the comedy community has been rallying to support his family, and to support Josh Adam Meyers, who was in the car with Bowers and was critically injured.

Drunk Driver Causes Two Accidents in Hollywood
A drunk driver caused not one, but two accidents in Hollywood yesterday morning, leaving one person dead and two others injured, including the driver himself. The 21-year-old man who was behind the wheel of a Toyota Matrix first hit a taxi at Hollywood and Argyle, and fled the scene.

Huntington Beach Could Shame Drunk Drivers on Facebook
The Huntington Beach City Council is being urged to approve a proposed motion to use Facebook to shame those with DUI records, according to the Independent. One Councilman wants to reinvigorate a previously ditched plan for "the Police Department to put up information and the booking photographs of those arrested on suspicion of drinking and driving who has been 'arrested for drunk driving multiple times,'" also known as "habitual drunk drivers." The council will vote on this issue on Monday, January 17th.

New State Laws Aim to Keep DUI Offenders Dry in the Driver's Seat
Yesterday, Gov. Schwarzenegger signed two bills into law, both of which focus on restricting operation of a motor vehicle to previous DUI offenders, reports the Daily News. Assemblyman Mike Feur (D-Los Angeles) has authored AB 91, calling for the implementation of a pilot program in four counties that will put an ignition interlock device in "every vehicle owned or operated by a first-time DUI offender."
