Wood Death Still Considered Accidental, Wagner Not a Suspect Say Investigators
Lieutenant Corina of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department held a brief press conference this morning to discuss the re-opening of the investigation into the 1981 drowning death of actress Natalie Wood. The LASD wanted to make it clear that Wood's husband, actor Robert Wagner is not a suspect, and, in fact, Wood's death remains considered an accident.
Natalie Wood's 1981 Drowning Case Re-Opened
Nearly 30 years ago, actress Natalie Wood, wife of actor Robert Wagner, drowned while boating with her husband and actor Christopher Walken. The Wagners' yacht, Splendour, was anchored in Isthmus Cove off Catalina. Though Wood's death was ruled accidental, today the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department announced they have re-opened the case.

Man's Drowning Death Linked To Rapture Predictions
A man drowned after attempting to swim across a reservoir in Northern California based on the belief that God was on the other side, reports CBS News. 25-year-old Victor Frasno, a resident of Florida, apparently tried to cross the lake despite the fact that he could not swim. According to CBS, Frasno's decision was likely based on predictions of the rapture made by Harold Camping.
Venice Canal Corpse Was Case of Accidental Drowning
Authorities are still working to determine the identity of a man whose body was discovered last weekend in the canal in Venice, however the coroner's office has conducted an autopsy, and has ruled the victim's death was an accidental drowning, according to the Daily Breeze. The victim was found wearing a black jogging suit; the body was reported as being spotted in the Grand Canal south of Venice Boulevard early in the morning on Saturday November 20th.

Fire Dept. Budget Cuts Could Be Factor in Child's Deaths
Although officials don't know for sure, the drowning of a 3-year-old boy last week might have been prevented if rolling cuts were not in effect. To close a $54 million gap in the department's budget, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa cut non-emergency overtime in lieu of furloughs or layoffs. The cut meant shutting down 15 engines and 9 ambulances at rotating locations around the city daily.
Lawndale Man Presumed Drowned at Lake Mohave
A 50-year-old man who jumped into Lake Mohave on Sunday is presumed drowned after rescue personnel suspended a search as night fell. The Lawndale man, whose identity has not been released, jumped into the water without a life jacket to retrieve a lost hat. "He went underwater and has not been seen since," according to a statement from the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, a popular destination for Southern Californians. Two Californians have died already this year at the area managed by the National Park Service. On Memorial weekend, an El Monte man drowned followed by another California man in late June.
Another Possible Drowning Death at Lake Mead
For the second time this year, a California man has died at Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Claude Finney, 48, jumped into the water to swim without a personal safety device, according to National Park Service officials, who say he was treading water for about a minute before he began to call for help. Friends tried to throw him life-rings, but he disappeared below water before they reached him. Search and Rescue teams have yet to find his body and are presuming this is a drowning. "The heat and the boat's motion can take a lot out of you. You just don't realize it until its too late. You jump in the water to cool off and fatigue hits you from no where and you can't keep yourself afloat." said Andrew Muñoz spokesman for Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Over Memorial Day weekend, a man from El Monte drowned when he jumped into the water without any safety floatation devices.
El Monte Man Presumed Dead in Lake Mohave Drowning
John Silva was last seen jumping off a boat into the water to cool off yesterday afternoon. But soon after entering the water without a life jacket, the 42-year-old El Monte resident began to struggle to stay afloat, prompting a friend to dive in for an attempted rescue. However, Silver went underwater before he could be reached and is presume drowned after a two-hour searched, to be continued tomorrow, provided no results.
